Amazon driver here!

When I was young I always played with toy trucks. When most of the kids in my elementary class wanted to be veterinarians or firefighters, I always said I wanted to drive a truck. Did this make me a loser? I never cared. Today I drive for Amazon and feel kind of like Santa delivering all the customer's presents. So, who has the cool job now?!!

I work for Amazon.

I don't work for Amazon as a warehouse worker, picker, or shipper. Those jobs are HUGELY important and I see a lot of them here on this site so I hope I am welcomed ;) I work as a technical project manager and help our team figure out cool things to develop for Amazon Echo in particular. I love being a woman in the tech industry because I get to work with other cool, strong women! Every day is something different too. One second I am brainstorming and implementing new ideas for our team, and in another, I am leading a meeting with 250 people in it. Glad to be apart of this group, thanks!

What if it all could be re-used????

This is what I asked myself every day when I worked at Waste Management. So many things get thrown away it's very sad. They take resources seriously!! Why waste things when we can recycle them. There is so much that I learned from my time there and from my co-workers. They were just an amazing group of people…..smart, resourceful, funny, kind. The hardest part of this job is whatever you make it. Want it to be easy? Then make it that way. Stay positive , work with good people, and your job will be a great place to be too.

She provided for us kids

When I was a kid, my grandmother worked at the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Cincinnati, Ohio. She would always come home and bring us kids Cokes. We would pop the tops off and chug them. She would tell us not to, but we couldn't help ourselves. Kids will be kids, right? Then years and years later I worked there too and stayed for a while just not as long as her. Funny to think of my grandmother working there, but she did it amazingly well. She took care of me and my little brother growing up with that job.

Their letters to Santa

Being a mail carrier is hard someday’s and I served this great country. But I have to say my favorite time of year working at the post office is when all the letters to Santa come in. I don’t know if it’s the thought of all those kids believing in something bigger than themselves or what, but it always puts a smile on my face. I always hope their wishes will come true.

I wished for this!!

I love Pepsi. Growing up it was the only thing I wanted to drink. All my friends did, but we weren't exactly well off, so we could only afford to have it on special occasions as a treat. I can remember on one of my birthdays I asked my parents to buy me a case of Pepsi, haha. I honestly JUST wanted that. My parents actually bought me two cases that year. When I blew out my candles I wished that one day I could work for Pepsi. Well today I'm glad to say that my wish did come true. I just started working in the plant!! Pepsi will always be apart of my life.

The good ole' days

My dad worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company as a route salesman way back in 1963. He was very proud of his employment there and the product. He actually seemed upset when he saw a person drinking anything else. I still have his Coca-Cola cap and uniforms he wore while working there and I won't ever get rid of them. Every time Coke comes out with a new flavor I always want to tell him about it. He loved his time there.

What u need to know about working for UPS

In order to become a UPS driver, you must be physically fit enough to lift up to 150 pounds (or at least move it), stand for a long time, lift and lower stuff throughout the day, drive a vehicle for hours on end, and pass a DOT physical. People have HEAVY things delivered and you never know what will end up on your truck. The hours can be long, but I make 68,000 a year which is good for me and my family. They have standards too like any company on appearance. I have to cover up my neck and leg tattoos up every day. No big. It's my choice to work there and gotta play by the rules.I am just glad I am working.

If you want to work in retail...

I have worked in retail most of my life. I worked at Target, Dollar Tree, Macy's, and a few others a while back and I particularly enjoyed it in the men's department. I helped men find suits on the sales floor and also worked as a cashier. It taught me quite a few things about retail. You have to be tough. If someone has a bad day they might take it out on you. It's NOT personal. If you are the type who likes to take in the holiday season and relax, then nope move on. That's THE busiest time. If you want to move up in the company then you work hard for it. Do your job and do it well. Talk to your co-workers, help them out, and befriend them. It's good to have work friends no matter where you are. Good luck in retail!

My parents both laughed at me...

My parents laughed at me when I said I was going to work for Delta. They told me that being a flight attendant wasn’t a "real job." So while they sit at their office desks every day with their real jobs, I get views like this at my "fake" one.
