Juneteenth
For Black STARs, the promise of Juneteenth is still unfinished.
"I didn't follow a traditional education path. I’ve been passed over for jobs not because I lacked the ability, but because I didn’t hold the one credential they were looking for. I was told I needed more leadership experience, but never given the opportunity to lead." - Marsay McKinney, STAR, Opportunity@Work
Millions of Black workers are STARs — Skilled Through Alternative Routes — yet still locked out of opportunity by outdated hiring systems that require degrees over skills.
This Juneteenth, let’s commit to building economic freedom for our country’s Black STARs.

Celebrating Juneteenth: Freedom and Reflection
Happy Juneteenth Eve! ✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿 Tomorrow, we remember the historic day in 1865 when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth, now a federal holiday, marks a significant step in our nation's history, celebrating progress while highlighting ongoing challenges. It's a day for reflection, education, and celebration as we honor the journey toward freedom and equality. Here are three meaningful ways to prepare for Juneteenth:
📚 Learn and Educate - Take time today to learn about the history of Juneteenth and the impact of slavery on American history. Share what you learn with friends and family. Watch documentaries, read books, and attend virtual or local talks to deepen your understanding of this important day.
🛍️ Support Black-Owned Businesses - Show your support for the Black community by planning to shop at Black-owned businesses tomorrow. Whether it’s dining at a Black-owned restaurant, purchasing goods from Black artisans, or using services from Black entrepreneurs, your support helps to uplift and sustain these businesses.
🎉 Join Community Events - Check out local Juneteenth celebrations happening tomorrow, such as parades, festivals, and cultural events. These gatherings are a great way to connect with the community, enjoy music, food, and art, and celebrate the day in unity and joy.
As we look forward to Juneteenth tomorrow, how will you be celebrating this meaningful day? Share your plans and ideas with us! ✨🎉

Observing Juneteenth
Jobcase, Inc. is observing #juneteenth today. We wish you a day of enlightenment as we all pause to consider racial inequities that continue these 157 years since Texas got on board w the emancipation proclamation. Yes solemnly celebrate the ending of our original sin of slavery, but moreso let’s pause this day to educate ourselves on history and think what we can do to make things better today.
