I just got what I believe was a job scam today as well from a so called Pharmaceutical Company in Korea. They only wanted to do an interview via Hangout and said they would overnight me a check to get all the office equipment to setup my home office to be an administrative assistant. JOB DESCRIPTION: This is strictly an online and work from home job and you can as well work from anywhere of your choice or anytime that does suit you. You can choose to work during Morning, Afternoon and even during evening , we provide flexible working hours. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITY: Tracks data and source documents. Prepares and sorts source documents, identifies and interprets data to be entered. Compiles, sorts and verifies data for accuracy. Contacts responsible parties or clients from other organization to resolve moderately complex questions, inconsistencies, or missing data. Also perform Records keeping, keyboarding/data entry and performing a variety of other office tasks account balancing, invoicing recording, proper data analysis of sales records and recording pay slips into accounting database.

This is strictly an online and work from home position, were all duties are performed remotely online, working hours are flexible and you can choose to work from anywhere of your choice, the pay is $29.55 per hour, working 40 to 45 hours weekly, if you are employed you are going to be working as a full employee and not an independent contractor. Another benefit of working from home, it allows an employee to focus in their environment, without the unnecessary office squander.

I've been emailing with a company call Seaway Logistics & Warehousing, "seawaylw.com" has anyone heard of them? I've asked for LinkedIn names but so far have not received any. Their website, which they gave me, shows their locations but there are not pictures of any employees, only a letter from the President/CEO of the company. I've received phone calls from their HR recruiter as well as from the HQ in Copenhagen. I am now being asked to use their bank account information, transfer funds to a credit card and once the funds have been confirmed, purchase equipment for them and send to a Paris location. I've been playing along for 3 weeks now with study materials that I receive daily, tests each Friday etc. Now this special project to give me an edge over others who are also (so I'm told) going through these tests. Location of where they will eventually open a location is TBD. I'm just wondering how long to play along if this is a scam and not burn any bridges if it's for real.

Dear Job Seekers.....I applied for a job and was supposedly hire at a company called Citygroup.from the Ziprecruiter website......See the e-mail from the company I received.....Anyways I received a Fraudulent check and letter from this Company....I NEVER cashed it....BEWARE....It's a SCAM.....

I just wanted to bring this up so everyone else is aware of it. I think I've seen a couple people talk about this before, but it finally happened to me. I had someone reach out to me saying they were from this company saying they found my info on one of the job boards I'm on. We had the interview via video since they weren't based in my state. I even looked everything up and it all checked out. At the end of the interview they said I was hired and would be working in the forthcoming office in my city. They said for now I would work at home and that they would send me a check to get the necessary equipment. STOP RIGHT THERE!!!! I new immediately from that something was wrong. Well I had screenshots of our correspondence, which I sent to the corporate office after calling them and finding out they weren't opening an office in my city, and they of course said it wasn't from them. So my tip for all of you - keep track of all communication you have with someone who seems a little fishy. And never accept a check from someone to buy equipment just to get you started!

Hey all! I know it's really hard to tell when a job offer is legit or not but I found this great article on the subject! It makes great points of how to tell if something is a scam. For example, if you get a job offer without an interview, that's likely a scam! Also if they don't seem to care about your qualifications, that's another big red flag. I put my social security number on a manual application form a few months ago. I felt uneasy about doing it at the time but I was desperate for a job and thought the company wanted that info up front to speed up hiring me but I never got hired. Now another job I applied for is telling me they can’t hire me because something came back on my background check. I’m 21 years old and I know that I don’t have a record of anything. I’ve never owned a credit card, no school loans, or arrest records so how did this happen? Is someone out there using my ss#? Is this going to follow me the rest of my life? How can I find out?

I have received several emails from people requesting an interview, mostly stating they are a European company moving to the US. You can spot these easily looking for the following: email address name is not the same as name in the body of the email; they do not actually state the name of the company; the domain email is not a business (abcd@eircomm or zoso); if you click on the email it is a jumble of letters and numbers; the email does not include an actual name after the salutation). Also if there is a company name, look it up or call. One company I looked up was decommissioned in the 1960's. Too good to be true = it is fraudulent. Do not give them your info.

This happened to me yesterday. First I received an email from a nikopatty@comcast.net instructing me to sign up Hangouts and contact a Kristina Starks ( kristinastarks7@gmail.com) for an interview. Kristina messaged me on Sunday afternoon for the interview, I declined. She then messaged me yesterday morning at 6:00 am central standard time (this tells me she did not even do any due dilligent as to where I'm located). I responded to her to chat at 7:00am. We were on hangout and she gave me this website ( www.ihcgroup.com )to review for 10 minutes, then informed me of the job description and benefits. She then sent me 5 questions to answer and once I'm done to respond DONE. She sent another 5 questions. Told me I'll have to work from home until the new office is completed, soon. Then I am to order equipment and supplies from one of their contracted vendor, and a check will be mailed to me. The hiring manager will contact me with full details this morning at 8:00 am but that never happened. I noticed that Kristina was active on hangout for about 40 minutes before I decided to shut off my computer. Earlier this morning, I went to the IHC Group website and tried to see if the job was posted. Nope. I then sent an email via their "contact us" inquiring if there was this position that I was interviewed for. I received an email back from IHC Group that the interview was a job scam and apologized for it and also advised me to contact the authority. I was lucky that I did not go out and purchase any items. Both email addresses and time of the message caused me to question what company used employees personal email address and setting an interview for Sunday? Please be cautious with these calls.
