Final Interview

I have reached the final interview stage for a job i have applied for. So far there has been a resume submission and suplemental questionaire, one-way video interview, in person panel interview, and now a final interview. I am not complaining about the process but feel like i have answered everything i could possibly answer and at a loss for how to prepare for this final stage in the process. Any advice would be appreciated.

Interview

I'm not sure how to answer the question what is my weakness? Or what is my strength? I usually answer my strength as I'm a leader, I like to learn different things. But always struggle with the weakness? HELP

Employable?

I now have been in the Las Vegas area going on 6 months . If I have applied to 1 job I've applied to 1000 jobs . My problem , or should I say problems is

  1. I've applied but never hear a response
  2. I get an email saying that the company moved on to other candidates , for basic jobs like data entry positions no less
  3. I dont know what employers want, if I never a call back . I cant even email back with a " why was I not selected"
  4. Even applied to temp agencies like randstad , apple one , etc and they all come back with the positions are filled or I didnt fit the " type " At this point I'll take anything. But nothing is coming through. If I dont find employment soon I'll have no choice but to go back to NY . Atleast I know the job market there and what employers will pay plus I know the cost of living . Such a shame that someone who wants to work , cant find employment. Very Disheartening . Does anyone have any ideas ? Or possible employment openings , opportunities? I can dummy down my resume if I need to , just to be able to work

Long road

So recently I was let go and on very morally questionable grounds and right before Christmas literally 3 days before I moved into my new place all seemed great until I was asked to come to the office and that's when I got delivered the news. It was heart breaking and terrifying because all I could think was now what. I had just enough money to post for 2 months rent and that was it but I got let go at the worse part of the year. In my field Construction December/Janurary/Feburary are the hardest months so no one was looking to hire not till Spring (when most home buyers start looking). I was screwed. I had to file for unemployment the works. First thing first update my resume did that within hours and thought ok maybe with my wording and my experience I can pick something up easily... wrong. I put out over 500 applications for work everyday from 8 am till 5 and on weekends. I got quite a few phone interviews but that was it. I was beginning to lose hope I was thinking about having to declare bankruptcy and move in with friends. 60 full days of sending resumes over and over to new companies, tweaking my resume each time to tailor to what the company in question was needing (never lieing because that is a sticky web not easy to get out of). Finally my break came through I had an in person interview come through not what I would have wanted, but it was something. I spent the next 2 days studying literally everything about the company as much information as I could. The day of the interview I showed up 10 minutes early and started my interview. Started out rocky because my age I am mid 20's so ageism is definitely a thing not just to older folks but younger as well. If it was up to them the interview would have been over in 15 minutes, but I showed my knowledge of their company, their product, their procedure and I can't stress this enough. If they ask you "do you have any questions" you need to have at least 3 questions qued up. My typical questions are "where do you want to see this company in 5 years/how do you think it got to the point where it is today" "what would your ideal candidate look like" "how do you think your company can get better". After I grilled the company in question their attitude turned 180° they showed interest in me because you show that you are interested. Dont feel like this company holds all the cards because remember they are looking for someone they need help. A day goes by and they extend an offer to me this is now Tuesday expecting me to start on Monday. I look at it and something tells me not to respond immediately. Wednesday comes and just before I sent my acceptance I get an email from a company that says they want an immediate interview. I respond back and set an interview that afternoon. Next day (Thursday) I am doing a second interview. Friday 10AM rolls around the hiring manager calls me tells me if my background check checks out she will extend an offer. This company pays more and have better benefits. Friday at 3 PM I get a phone call from another company that received my resume is interested in me. Now please dont think I am bragging I am simply stating that you cant lose hope when things dont go your way quickly. Go with your gut feeling dont be afraid to keep submitting your resume because like me you might get yourself in a position where you have the upper hand. You can negotiate and have a bidding war. Had I stuck with the first company I would have shot myself in the foot because I would not have made enough money to survive.

Thank You Notes

Hi all, I posted yesterday that I got hired and one of the things I mentioned was making sure you send a thank you letter to the recruiter who contacted you and the people you interview with. It shows you are willing to go above and beyond than just showing up for the interview and confirms you really do want the position. To solidify this idea for you, because I know some people think doing this is silly (and I must admit I've been skeptical of this), I received a note from the COO of the company I will be working for, saying she's excited that I accepted the offer and welcome. She added this onto the thank you note I sent her when I originally interviewed for the position. I never did receive a response to this thank you and thought she probably deleted it like most people. However, all this time she held on to it which I think tells you something.

In the hunt for a job you need to do everything you can to stand out. Something as simple as thank you can make the difference between you another candidate.

Hope this info helps and good luck - keep up the fight!

Desperately looking for a job with health benefits

The hardest part about finding a job is I have been a stay at home mom for 28 years. I really have no experience. I have had a few jobs such as a security guard and I worked as a Unit Secretary at a hospital both were many years ago. My husband is divorcing me after 28 years and with that he is taking away all my health benefits. I don’t have enough Social Security credits to draw or any retirement when the time comes. I want to be independent as I still have a 15 yo daughter that is in my custody. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One important thing I did to prepare for my interview was...

I was already a tenant there, and when I had no success in resolving an issue with the existing manager, I called the owner directly. After a month, I was given the position and held it for 15 years.

Interview

I am so ecstatic right now. With the many applications I've been filling out and the "I'm sorry" speeches I've had to endure, I finally got a call today for an interview. Prayer definitely works! My God is a way maker! Thank you to all my fellow jobcasers for your daily encouragements. My determination increased as my discouragement deceased. Whether I get the job or not, my faith is strong and I can't stop and won't stop until I reach success! God bless everyone!

Interview question

I would have started off with a question about there previous job they have worked at. Or ask them why they want to work here?
