Job Offers
I received a verbal offer and a start date but nothing in writing yet. It’s been over a week since my interview but I’m afraid to give notice at my current job without a written offer. I’ve left messages but no one's returned my call or emails. Should I give my current job notice without a written job offer?

Age and Race Discrimination
After many many months looking for a full time position I finally gave in and accepted a temporary data entry job in May. The job was clearly an underemployment opportunity for me but I took it because I was told it had the potential to become a permanent full time role based on my performance. After 2 months I was approached by the department manager and encouraged to apply for an Office Assistant job opening. Applied for the job, took the personality and skills qualification exams, and interviewed with department heads. Offered the job 2 weeks later and set an official start date of September 6. That same week I was called into the manager's office and told job offer had to be retracted due to budgetary reasons but I was promised the job as soon as the position re-opened. Last Thursday I found out they hired an outside applicant for the position. I immediately went to the department manager to complain and was told I was overqualified for the position. It just so happens that the girl they hired for the position is a lot younger than me and from a different racial background. Although I’m a member of the majority race in the US I still consider their actions unfair, biased, and a slap on the face!! Do I still have any room for legal recourse against that company as a temporary employee?

Asking for more money than is in the offer letter?
Need help. I think that I am about to get an offer for a job I really really want. The problem is that the pay range is kind of low. I know other people who negotiated their pay when the job was offered and the internet says that is the best time to negotiate. I am afraid of losing the job though. Has anyone else negotiated a higher salary before signing the offer letter?

Job Offer is not the Position Applied to?! HELP!
So I recently interviewed with a company that was hiring multiple positions. I applied for the designer position as that was what I went to school for but told him I would also be open to sales as I am currently freelance so I have faith in my negotiating and selling abilities. We had a frank discussion about wages and since I am currently no longer employed I was in no big need to negotiate and honestly, would be happy with whatever they could provide, especially as the role was one I would be comfortable in as well as excel in.
A day or two passes and he offers me a Project Management position. A position we never even discussed...(yes I have a wee bit of management experience...in RETAIL, years ago...not design!) with only a dollar increase in pay (let's just say his first mention of wages was very low for the design position). I will be talking with him today about the responsibilities of this job...but from my memory at my previous firms and shops, Project Management is a LOT of responsibility and I feel I am under-skilled for such a high level offering. Not to mention the wage he is offering for that position is insulting given its level of importance for a company. Maybe he sees something in me that I don't? I don't know but I plan on negotiating with him when he calls if it sounds like something I could do...but I don't have much time left on my unemployment (a month) So I don't want to miss out on an opportunity yet I also don't want to be stuck in another job that I could possibly lose due to my lack of understanding!
HEEEELLPPP!

Meat Cutter
In November of 05 I walked into the Costco in Lenexa KS. I asked about the opportunity of a position of a Meat Cutter position. Was told the meat mgr. Had been promoted to receiving mgr. And there was an opening. I was told to go on line and apply. Which I did. They let me give a two weeks notice to my current/former employer. I came in for a four hour orentaion the next day, which I was paid for four hours/and put on payroll. Two weeks went by and then I physically went to work for them .TWO WEEKS went by and I was fired, no sick days no late shows and always a great attitude. The meat mgr wanted his friend not me.

Basically QUIT MY JOB!!!!
Happy football Sunday to everyone,
I'm currently unemployed, but only because I was working for a company called "Ricoh Electronics" and got a phone call about another machine operator job paying $2.40 more, 5 mins from home, and off on weekends. I went for my interview, passed the drug test, and aced the interview. My start day was suppose to be Oct 10, 2016, I put in my two week notice at my previous employer. Only for the job to tell me that I lied on the application, by saying I didn't have any misdemeanor. I could have sworn that it asked if it's before 7 years ago to write it down. I got incarnated 10 years ago for joyriding in a stolen car when I was 18, they called me and told me I couldn't work for them because of that. Lol now I'm unemployed waiting on someone to call.

Is it legal for employer to ask for your individual monthly bills, write them down and then make a lowball offer?
I was at my second interview, the offer one. He asked what my mortgage, cable bill (which he commented on), my electric bill average (which he commented on), my cell phone bill, my monthly food, etc. He wrote it all down on the inside of the folder that held all my paperwork, totaled it up and offered me a low amount, and IF he got the $10,000 that NJ unemployment pays him for hiring me, he would add $3000 to that figure. I was so shocked - I lived through the times when employers could ask you all kinds of probing, illegal questions (yes, I am a woman) that I told him the figures. When I told him the figure was just too low, he told me not to complain, that I would get it back in my tax refund. I was horrified, yet, as a woman, I was not shocked. I think what he did was illegal, but I just declined the job and went on with my life. I am still looking for a job - unemployment ran out August 6th. No extended benefits and no jobs.

Offer letter
I was offered a position with a company and signed the job offer Tuesday. I have not heard back from the training manager and emailed 2x already..do not know what to. Any advice? Do not want to have the employer back out of hiring me

Working Poor
Employers get together and write up a wish list of skills, qualifications, and duties on the job description for everything and anything they want a new employee to do in that position but they never want to pay the proper salary to match the talent and responsibilities. I’ve had two potential job offers but the salaries being offered are $5000 - $7000 below average market pay for that job. I’m going to need a second job to cover monthly expenses and forget about savings. What’s up with that?

Responding to Lowball Offer
I am currently unemployed but doing consulting work for several clients while seeking a full time position. I am in the mix for a few positions and one just extended an offer. The offer is very low (about $30-$35K below expectations and market rate). It is clear they are unable to negotiate a higher salary due to budget restrictions and/or other reasons. While I haven't made a final decision, I am leaning towards declining the offer. My concern is that accepting such a lowball offer will hurt me down the road. If I decline the offer, i will need to do so by phone personally as an exec extended the offer to me personally. In declining, should I be specific about why I am declining or just explain that after careful consideration, the position is not the right fit for me? Any thoughts?
