Extremely Nervous!!

Ecstatic that I finally receive a job offer, but the HR rep told me I need to provide pay stubs or taxes. What does this mean??

Social Securifty Number

I will NOT give out my social security number until I have a written job offer. Period the end. However, I was talking to a friend at the bank, they prescreen all application by social before they are even delivered to HR - so, all those websites where I put 000-00-0000 I guess I am not getting those jobs!!!

Questions about job offer

Have received job offer, no paid vacation for one full year. Need a total of 7 days off in two different weeks before meeting that year anniversary. Do I ask for the time off un-paid or suck it up and forfeit the already paid for vacations?

Franklin Albright-computer technician

The best thing to do in this case is to write them a formal thank you letter for offering you the job stating that you are unable to accept it at this time

Why all the suspense?

How long does it take a company to decide who get's hired for a job? I've been interviewing and testing with 3 companies for almost two months and not one of them has contacted me with a decision. All the jobs are entry level and offering no more than 28K per year so I don't get it… why all the suspense?

Contemplating 3 Job Offers

I have 3 job offers where I'm contemplating on what would be best for me.

  1. Dept of Navy - It's close to home but would be taking a pay cut of $640.90 a month if I take this offer. I know I'm worth more and not sure if I can negotiate the steps in the pay grade. Also the hours are pretty good.

  2. Dept of Navy - US Naval Academy - pays more but is not a GS position, not immediately. It would be a 3 yr probation, and it's an hour and 1/2 away, the hours would most likely be 5am to 3:00p which means I would have to leave at 3:30 every morning. Something I've done and not really sure if that's something I want to do again.

  3. Assistant Management position - Close to home, pays decent, set schedule, nice people, but lacks the benefits the government offers, and job security.

My question is - should I choose job security, benefits over pay? I'm just at odds.

Can't have cake and eat it too...

I excepted the first job I was offered and NOW I've been offered another job with $1.50 more pet hour. I've only worked the first job 2 weeks and the second job wants me to start on the 14th of this month! Of course I want the second job more because of more pay and it's located closer to my place of residence. HOW do I go about leaving the first job without seeming ungrateful and possibly burning a bridge ?

Question: Can i sue

a friend of mine works for a competitor store...she recommended to the department manager that I am very knowledgeable and has years of experience. long story short...they contacted me...I went and filed an application. The department team leader was very happy of the knowledge I contain about my skill..i went for a second interview with the store manager.. he told me all I needed to star was my ny state id, my birth certificate and my ss card.... now....being at my place of employment for nine years. I had lost my ss card some time ago, didn't think id need it any time soon since I had my non drivers id.. so I had to apply for a new one..to my belief it takes two weeks to get it in the mail...im 51 yrs old. any way, I gave a two week notice to my former job which my last day would have been Sunday the 16th of October...and I was suppose to start that Monday the 17th...I still haven't received the ss card yet..i went into the office and a women that works with hr said that the paper from the social security stating that I had applied for the ss card was in the mail..they said that I couldn't work until I got the card...the card came two days later. in the afternoon. now its Thursday morning I have the card going to the office to start my new job. and was told that they hired someone else... the lady asked me if the manager called me on tues.. no one called me... I've left my job of nine years to get told that they can't hire me.. now I'm without a job going on two weeks rent I owe and no job and no more money to find a job..im in a jam and about to be homeless.
