I got the interview signed the job for Walmart and waited for weeks for my background check to come in and come to find out that it was not competitive. I was ver angry because I thought I was going to work and get my daughter some Christmas presents and us a apartment and now I'm homeless and cant afford to get my daughter any Christmas presents.

Offer for employment taken away less than 2 weeks after being hired

I took a temp to perm position because I needed a job with a company to gain some knowledge 3d design and modeling. They had me working with a staffing agency for my 90 days. After a few months they offered me a perm position. They pay was lower than I was use to, but the people working there were really nice and I enjoyed my job. This company had just implemented new software and they had gotten the bill today for the support $25K. And I had just gave them my personal info (including my DOB, SSN and my drivers License). On the Background check I had written a 3rd party clause that stated that I wanted to opt out on having my personal info saved in their database (background check co). This form also contained my age. Which is a lot older then the people I was working with/for. Meanwhile, the bill for the software support had just arrived (about 1.5 hrs before) the bill was received or submitted. I was called into the owners office and they stated that my offer had been withdrawn. They said it was because of the statement , "We can not be responsible for your data blah blah..I said I wish you would please re-consider. I told them that they were not 3rd party mentioned in the clause and it was for the people doing the background check (third party). I even mentioned that I would remove the statement. The HR lady who resides in another town was on the phone in the owners office. She had done a 180. She was really nice but when we all spoke (conf call) she was mean and not 100% factual. So Im wondering if I was not hired because of the age, the statement or the 25K bill? Also, I have no idea how to try to get unemployment. I feel really upset. I feel like I did nothing wrong...

Which position?

Lucky enough to have two offers but I am having a hard time choosing. One is for government, in my field of education, M-F daytime hours, paid, holidays, potential promotions with time, and job security. The other is with large global company, pays more, offers bonuses, has mandatory OT, nights, and weekends. i will have to relocate with either and global co will pay for relocateion but not gov. I want to take the gov position but I am worried about finances in order to make it happen. I have kids that I need to provide otherwise I would live in car until I got on my feet. The global co would be financially better in the beginning but I have always wanted the gov job and I don't know if I would ever have another opportunity to get in with them again. I just need to get by for a while. But will be miserable without kids until I can afford to relocate them too.

Same job for half the pay.

Has anyone seen or experienced drastic cuts in salary during the job search? I was laid off and making a decent salary that was consistent with what I had made in previous jobs. Now I am starting to receive offers and while I am very gratefulI feel like I am going backwards. The job, education and experience requirements are in line with my previous job but WOW the salary amounts are half of what I was making. It's like they know there are more people looking for jobs than there are available positions so they stick it to you by cutting the salary because they know you have to take something.

Upset !!!

So I went to an interview and was told I got the job. Went back the next day to fill out my information, all went well to me even went outside and chatted with the manager. He said he will give me a call to let me know when I will begin. Well today I got a phone and he said he hired "too" many people and had to cut back. Well I was one of them. I'm really upset because I was really excited to start the new job. Even told my family about it and for them to call me and say that was really horrible. I don't know what to do, it seems whenever things are going great something always tends to happen.

Mary Unemployed

I have had some great interviews. I was told that I would hear about a few positions this week. I have two interviews next week, that are a better fit for me. How do I go about putting off an offer if I get one?

Thanks

Bad news, good news...Next Step Suggestions?

So I was turned down for a job recently because the new CEO thought I would be bored with it and was apparently "so impressed" that he thinks he wants me to take on a job they would need to create. Fabulous! Wonderful! But he also needs time to figure out what he actually needs and what the new job tasks would be. So I'm still unemployed, have no idea how long this will take, and am uncomfortable about falling off the radar. Any suggestions out there about how to keep momentum and speed up the process? And yes, I already sent my ideas about the job description. Any input welcome.

What should I do?

I was just offered a position making $12,000 less than my previous position. I have been unemployed for a little while and really want to get back into the workforce. Taking such a big pay cut would not afford me to enjoy my usual way of living. So, I was thinking that I take the position for now so that I will have money for the holidays, get my car fixed, pay off some bills, etc. until I find a job that will pay me what I need. I know that might be unfair to the company, but I feel it is unfair to me as well. They saw my resume with all of the experience, skills, and education I have so they should have known I wouldn't come cheap. The other thing is that I think I would really like the job and the people I work with. I am just so confused. Do I take the job until one that's willing to pay me what I am worth comes along or should I decline the offer and continue to interview elsewhere? One last thing, I have no other income at the moment besides my child support. There are just so many things to consider. Any suggestions? Thanks.
