Ugh!!!

A manager literally said the words "You've got the job!" I went in to fill out paperwork and really connected with everyone there, and now they are telling me that they can't hire me because of budget issues??? This is just so defeating, no matter what I do I can't get a job!

Received a job offer, but not a job start date?!

Hello everybody!

Last Thursday I was interviewed for a job, and Friday morning, I received a call saying that they would like to go ahead and start the screening process. I asked "does this mean I got the job?" and she replied, "Yes, you got the job"

So I went Friday afternoon to sign the paperwork to due to my background check and to get the paperwork to do a drug screen. She then said, "I'm hoping for your start date to be Monday, February 6th"

Yesterday morning, I sent an email to confirm my start date, and that she could go ahead and run the background check. Her exact response was...

"The start date isn't a positive thing right now while I'm working through these issues. Additionally, I can't send the background information until they release the information but I'm actively working on it."

What does this mean? Should I maybe start doing another job search just as a backup? I don't want her to forget about me or retract the job offer. :-(

PLEASE DON'T fall for this scam

Please don't fall for this scam: MarketForce Inc. posing to be a secret shopper company. They didn't get me but I did receive a random text from them. This was my reply "dear market force inc. I'm sorry to inform you of this but, YOU SHOULD PACK ALL OF YOUR STUFF NOW. Ditch your phone and RUN. I am fully aware of your so called company(Fraud) My uncle works for the FBI. He said it wouldn't take them long to find the person who sent the text. Surely your not the leader...if you are I suggest denial and deal because you only have about 48 hours.

Companies stringing you along?

Are you being stringed along by companies, like I am? I applied at a billion dollar company in November, was told to come in for a drug test and background check, and was made to believe a job offer would be on the way. I was so excited that I was finally getting momentum on my job search, but now I've passed the background check and the drug test and I've been waiting for TWO MONTHS FOR THEM TO CALL. Wtf is wrong with companies now days? Now I'm running out of money and I've wasted weeks for a job offer they promised and I'm worried about getting evicted. It's just messed up.

Don’t make this Mistake Again!

I’ve always made a mistake of accepting the first job offer with whatever pay they were offering which I usually end up regretting and beating myself up over when I realize all the extra job responsibilities outweigh the pay. How can I evaluate my previous experience and skills in a way to help me determine the proper financial (salary) value for my services to employers?
