What am I doing wrong

What am I doing wrong? I have put applications in all over town but have had only one call back. The employer basically said I had the job, but had to interview a few other applicants, that was last week. And no phone call to come in to work. Need advice please.

Excited!!

So I was told earlier today that I am the number one candidate for a job I've applied to and been interviewed for. I'm just waiting for them to work out a few technical things, but I would have the job pretty soon! I'm pretty excited to finally have a job again soon!!

Rant

Got a job offer working as a support engineer, the contracting agency I'm working with is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE.

The MOST convoluted, crazy, non-existent process of on-boarding I've ever experienced in my entire career, and believe me I've worked for some real horror shows.

Did the first interview, it went great. Did the second interview, it went great. Did all the paperwork, crossed all the t's, dotted all the i's, but because of sheer incompetence and lack of communication, I still don't have the job after almost a month now.

Here's the real kick in the !@#$: I was told that I start MONDAY 4/10 - I show up at the facility, no one knows who I am, where my "paperwork" is, I'm not on the books, no record of me, NOTHING. I literally sat in the front lobby for over an hour, at the place I'm supposed to be working. Frustrated and confused, I call my agency, THEY TELL ME TO GO HOME. REALLY?

I've got over 20 years under my belt as an engineer/tech, I've never experienced anything like this before. I'm so angry and frustrated, words cannot describe.

Has this happened to any of you? I hope you all are doing a lot better than I am, because for me this is an absolute nightmare and it seems like tech is just bottoms up with nowhere to go.

End of rant.

Not Sure

I have a job offer .That seems to pay ok. But is not enough to pay my bills. The job does not pay Health insurance either.I have been laid off a few weeks. Not many choices out there. I am a skilled tradesman .

My mail said post it here and you never know.

I almost got a research job but was beat out by another so I'll keep doing it in my free time. At least I can enjoy my free time. Anyone know someone that needs a researcher?

Employee Poaching Question?

How can I check if violating any competitive agreements with my job? I work in IT for a nationally recognized company and for the past few months I have been approached with emails and phone calls from recruiters for another rival or competitor company’s offering me a job opportunities. At first I though the contacts were scams or company insiders testing employee loyalty as a result of the volatile and highly competitive market for qualified IT professionals so I was hesitant. I discovered after many back and forth conversations that the potential offer is real but I’m still holding back in fear of violating my employee contract agreement with my current employer. How can I verify this without tipping off my employer that I’m looking into other jobs?

What do you think about this?

I have an opportunity with a great company that has great mobility down the line. The position I would start at is not my ideal position but down the line I could end up in sort of a dream job with the great company. Would you take the position or stay with an OK company in a position I like more but has little mobility down the line?

What should I do?

I’ve been working at the same pizza shop since I graduated from high school. It’s a small family owned restaurant. I’ve been there so long that the owner consider me like another family member. I learned a lot about cooking, running a business, and dealing with customers during my time working there and I appreciate all the guidance and schedule flexibility the owner has given me throughout the years. The owner is getting up there in age and wants to slow down so he’s been handing over more of the day to day business operations over to me this summer. Last week he approached me with a General Manager offer. The bump in pay is great but the job doesn’t include any health benefits. He say’s the business can’t financially support paying health benefits for me and the other 4 FT employee’s who work in the restaurant. My girlfriend and I are planning to start a family soon and I can’t risk taking on a new job role with no health insurance. It breaks my heart to have to decline the owners job offer but I’m eventually going to have to move onto another job with benefits. Does anyone know of another affordable health insurance option I can purchase independently or as a group if the other employees decide to sign up with me as well?
