Background issue

How do you be completely honest about background issues and still get a job offer but later called back and have the job offer denied.

Job Offered, Offered Rescinded

After a phone interview and face to face interview I was offered a job, I was called and offered the position. I hadn't heard anything since last Thursday when I accepted the offer so I decided to email the recruiter. Her reply was "we have decided to go a different direction". Very unprofessional to not at least notify the person you offered the job to and explain why (technically they don't owe an explanation but it still would have been nice). Anyone else have that happen to them? There was no background check done & references were not contacted.

How long does it take? I want to start already

Hello everyone, If anyone would be so kind as to shed some light on this, I would appreciate it. Basically, I received a contingent offer in April for an airline position pending my background verification, drug test, fingerprint, etc....fingerprint was the last thing taken almost three weeks ago. Received word about two weeks ago that everything cleared.

I know that there is a training class (not sure how may people will be in it). I was told that I would be sent my firm offer letter (via email) with the training class orientation date? Have yet to receive it. I spoke to my contact in the talent department (via email) that they were just waiting on a orientation date. I know I'm probably just being neurotic, but it's just in my nature.

What would you do?

What would you do, if you were offered a job, it paid a dollar less than what you were making, would mean you would have to pay out a lot of your own money ( if you were given the option to do it at home ) and you were not given a guaranteed 40 hours a week, which is what you count on... would you accept the job?

I don't understand!

Hello all,

In the past 2 Months, I've been to 3 solid interviews. All 3 went very well, which I have over 15 years experience in my field. ( I am now 38yrs of age)What I don't understand is I was told by each interviewer that was a solid fit, & even went on a tour, and met with current co-workers. In my Interviews, we each sat down and connected in a professional and personal level, which I felt was great about because I felt confident enough to think I've landed the job.. I was told that I would hear back from them within a week or so, which of course I heard nothing back. I've called, left messages, and followed up with a thank you letter. I was always able to land a job in the past, however I'm beginning to think its my age & income requirement. Being that I live in NJ, when ask about my salary range, I feel with my experience I should not start at an entry level salary. To make it worse, I've seen a position for one of the companies Online which I've interviewed with listed as a freelance job. Is this the way of the norm now? Where companies rather save money by outsourcing?

Feeling Bummed...

For some time now, I has stopped applying to jobs. Just got tired of no responses and when getting a response not getting the job. Recently, my resume was spotted on (xxxx) and I rec'd a call for an interview. After the interview, I really felt that I had nailed it. I mean really really nailed it. A feeling I don't think I have ever felt before after leaving an interview. As I stood outside the door fumbling threw my purse for my keys, I overheard the 2nd interviewer (person I would be reporting too) tell the 1st interviewer "I really like her, I think she's it". I was told to give them a 2 weeks before I'd hear from them. I had settled in my mind that I would be starting a new job soon. Shared with my family and all. 2 weeks had come an no call or email. I emailed to find out the status and was informed that someone else got the job. Back to the drawing board I go. Or not.

Bad Experience and my own fault

I'm using an alias, because I'm to embarrassed to use my real name, but would like some input. I had been researching a company for months, and finally found a position that was a good fit. Went through extensive interviews and finally landed the job. No where did it mention any testing about anything. Not that it should matter. I had met up with some high school friends just before they reached out and some brought out some pot so we all had some. So, after receiving the offer letter it said, background check and drug test. I was so nervous, I went and had my own test at a professional lab and it was negative. It was an odd occasion after a stressful week with old friends. So, I thought I'd be ok for the real test and still failed. The HR lady was so nice and tried to help with all the new laws and thought it was no big deal, but since they're federal. They retracted the offer. I had talked with my new boss and had a start date. I want to reach out to him, but wasn't able to when this first happened. Wondering if I should and see the job posted again for 22 days'. I know I screwed up, so don't be harsh. I was so confident I gave my notice and lucky my old boss took me back after being truthful. Now, I'm in a job and thankful to still have it, but just burnt out. Would you write to this guy who would have been your new boss? I still want the job, but know it's over.
