Finally got an offer from company I have been targeting, low level but hopefully foot-in-the-door after being stay-at-home mom for some time. Background check taking forever, which is frustrating, but my question is this - they extended the offer via email. "We would like to extend an offer of employment for $XX.XX/hr. Please respond with yes or no." No real person to negotiate with! I understand that I could have said no and said why, which may have opened up the opportunity to talk, but maybe not. Working overnight retail to pay the bills, really need to lock something down with better pay and benefits, in my field. Is this common? I was so surprised!

Well I had two telephone interviews in the same day. Once finished with the second interview thought i had the job, she explained everything to me and told me i will receive a email within 24 hrs with the next step. Well the email i receive said they've chosen a better candidate.....lost

Finally got a job offer after 12 weeks...the longest I've ever been without a job to support my family. Offer is for 15000 less than what I making plus overtime. New position is salary but for a very small company who has the same core values I believe in. I make woukd make more money staying on unemployment for now. What to do ...I can't decide.....

I recently had an interview with chick fil a. I just filled out an application for chipotle. My thing is, what if chipotle called me scheduling an interview with me. Then the next day chick fil a calls me and say that i got the job. How would i proceed with chipotle on the other end. Should I ignore their call or tell them i just received a job

I was offered a job working in a test kitchen - a dream job for me, the kind of work I have always wanted to do- but the reviews of the company by former employees are horrible. They literally say - do not work here. Terrible hours (7 am - 4:30) and crazy rules like no talking til after 11, no eating at your desk, etc. The person who had the job before me only lasted three months. Any advice?

I was offered a job with LTE co without being interviewed. Does anybody know if they are legit. They said it is home based and ask me to sign a vontract right away before they give me my duties. The position is for a manager.

I'm a Recreation Director. I was recently approached by a recruiter about an opportunity which was not only in my field but also close to home. My current position was hour and half away. This new opportunity was less than thirty minutes from home. When on the interview and immediately I was asked to speak to the corporate nurse and the corporate recreation Director. The executive director emailed me the offer letter and then I began the process of signing it and figuring out how I can still hold on to my old job and test the water with the new one. I was able to work the new one for four weeks and then give notice to my old job. On the five week the ED and the corporate recreation Director came into my office and informed me that I'm not what they are looking for and terminate me just like that. I was so speechless I started packing my things and left. The moral of my story is if it seems too good then ten chances it's not good, I usually have a good sense of a place after a week, I didn't want to see the signs because I was saving so much on being close to home so I over looked the red alerts and end up right back to where I started. If this has happened to anyone else please share.

Accepting the position after they rejected me and then wanted to hire me after that person left, only to let me go three weeks later for no known reason.

Is it illegal to do a background check on somebody even if they don't plan on hiring them. I thought that you have to hire first before doing your background check unless you don't pass it. So they did my background check but it took a little long so they gave my job to someone else which I believe they never really wanted to hire me.
