Who benefits most from a Jobcase Resume? “My resume is boring, but I’m intimidated by fancy graphics.” [Series]

Sending out a plain-Jane resume can hold you back, but do you really have to be a graphic designer to build a resume you can be proud of? We think not.

When reconsidering the Jobcase Resume, we had our designers work tirelessly to create graphics that are at once impressive, but not too flashy. These classy designs will make your experience shine, rather than overshadow it. You can even preview our design on your “My Profile” page to see if it’s to your liking!

If you can relate to any of the statements in the “Who Benefits Most…” series, click here to edit your profile and generate your new resume!

How can the Jobcase Resume better help you? Comment below to share your thoughts and questions!

We can’t wait to bring more new and improved tools to you. Stay tuned for more about Jobcase’s Resume or click #JobcaseInsider to see all of the posts in this series in one spot!

Jobcase is NOT a Dating Website!

Hello All —

I’d like to take a moment to voice myself in this community regarding some people that have taken it upon themselves to send private messages asking for my number or voluntarily providing me with their number with some expectations of me reaching out to them for romantic interests.

On one hand I can understand and respect a kind compliment with no problem being that this is natural. Compliments happen and if someone compliments me, it’s appreciative. However, there are times when it becomes a bit ridiculous (and quite sad) that some feel the need to assume that there is personal interest on my part or that one should willingly give me their number hoping I call or text them. My purpose on Jobcase is to legitimately help those that are job seeking, not to catch a date, not to receive private messages that contain personal phone numbers, nude photos, etc., (you name it, I’ve seen it all), and for one to assume that it’s okay (or mature) to take this type of approach makes you look incredibly stupid and desperate (sorry, not sorry to be blunt).

Case in point: I received several messages on Jobcase, one of which was from someone that gave me their number and has been waiting for me to call/text them. No introduction, no profile information, no proper greeting, just a simple message with their number. I responded respectfully and following this came a response from this users account, a message from the wife of said person informing me that their husband is trolling Jobcase, messaging others in an attempt to “play” them. I thank the wife for informing me and hope that this makes her see what type of man she’s married to, and that she handles the situation however she sees fit to do so.

For anyone else within the community, beware of situations like this. I am the absolute nicest, most helpful person in this community but I will be vocal about things like this, which shouldn’t happen to anyone unless it’s mutual. I personally think that it’s pathetic of some to present themselves in such a way that makes them look even worse, and then wonder why there’s zero interest. Jobcase is about people who need support, help, and/or encouragement in the job world, not about brushing up on your dating life. Take note and grow up!

Just signed my offer letter

Latest update , I just recently signed my offer letter to work in a luxury resort in San Antonio,Texas . Finally after one month and 1 week of sending almost 40 resumes and 5 interviews I finally found a job and the best part about it is that I will be working in an exclusive Executive Lounge in this luxury resort attending only to the elite members and VIPS. Plus the resort is just right beside where I live so I can literally just walk to work. . I am grateful and thankful for the Lord as he is the best provider of all our needs . Thank you to my ever supportive husband who was there all the time to support me during this challenging job search period. And lastly to all the members of the Jobcase community, do not lose hope, do not lose faith for everything comes in God's perfect time.

Wow!!!!!

Yesterday I met with my career counselor I met through unemployment. As we were talking I was telling her about Jobcase. She was really curious as I was telling her and she looked through everything on here. She checked out the conversations and the job search feature on here. She went from curious and unsure of it to being impressed. (She has in the past seen other sites that she is not thrilled with.) She likes the amount of support everyone gives each other. The fact we can search for jobs on here. Her final decision, she said I will let others know about Jobcase.

So to all those behind the scenes here, thank you for all the hard work you do for all of us to have a place like Jobcase. To all the people who post and comment.... You all help make Jobcase a great place to be. Thank you for your posts and taking time to read and comment on the posts others write. Together we make up our family here at Jobcase. Happy holidays to everyone! God bless you all!

Community Etiquette & Civility 101

The community portion of Jobcase is a wonderful and diverse crossroads of education levels, language, culture, race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexuality , and faiths (or lack thereof). It represents and is represented by individuals who all have a singular purpose:

To find work and to help others.

At times, as with any large group, you may stumble upon things with which you don't agree. It is in how you react to those things and with your fellow Jobcaser that will ultimately define you on this site.

We are all here voluntarily. No one is forcing you to be a member of this community. If you see something with which you don't agree you have two options.

1) Engage your fellow Jobcasers in civil discourse (with "civil" being the optimal word)

2) Ignore it and move on

Sometimes you will see messages that are hard to understand due to poor writing. Whether there is a language barrier, disability, poor education, or some other unknown variable, if you can't understand what someone is asking, request that they clarify.

If you can use context clues to determine what someone is asking or stating, answer the question or offer a response. Do not attack them or point out their inadequacies. It doesn't make you a better person to drag someone else down. It makes you a jerk.

If a post is so ridiculous to you that it makes your blood boil, ignore it. No need to become a keyboard warrior and take someone to task. It takes a lot less effort to be kind than it does to be hateful. If you find that the opposite is true, then the problem is with you and not with the people you feel the need to attack or belittle.

In the end, we are all human beings. That is our common denominator and that alone should be good enough to lift one another up; especially when the majority of the tribe is all in the same boat.

A Heart Felt Message

Hello all my friends in the JobCase community! I have to say that this year disappeared as quickly as it arrived. Right? I wish I could sit and talk with each one of you to hear your life story and encourage you that next year could be full of hope and promise! Unfortunately that would not be possible but know that I feel connected to you all as I continue to read your stories of joy, and some of disappointment. I realize that I have not been much help during this busy year but I have not forgotten about you.
I also know that so many are hurting and are wondering if anyone cares. Many people have lost love ones, some are going through a difficult marriage, while others are on the edge of life hoping that someone will hear or see them. Whatever the case may be, you need to know that I care and at anytime you can share your story with me. I understand that I may not be able to help but sometimes it makes us feel human just to know someone cares, is listening and is reading our story.
Here is a promise that I can and will commit to: If anyone decides to send me a message, I will respond to each and every message that comes to me and keep it confidential. I will fill each message with words that come from the heart without judgement and that offer encouragement. Trust me when I say that I know how dark and discouraging life can seem. Many times we feel as if we are alone and without anyone who we can call a friend. Love you guys!
