EVERYDAY IS A NEW OPPORTUNITY

Hey my fellow jobcasers! How was your Monday? I read a few success stories and some not too good. We still want to celebrate the people who have succeeded today and continue to encourage one another. Tomorrow is a new day and I am looking forward to it. What about you? Enjoy the rest of the day and I hope you go to bed having peaceful rest so you can start all fresh and hopeful tomorrow. Guerline.

Great day in West Virginia...

We love advocating for Jobcasers and we love meeting them in person. Last week gave us the chance to do both! Here's more on the great day (plus a nice Jobcase shoutout from a U.S. Senator!).

How To Stay Safe In Midwestern Flood Affected Areas

We here at Jobcase are thinking about all of those impacted by the flooding in Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota.

We’ve compiled a list of resources, tips, and relief organizations for those affected or who may be impacted by the flooding - we encourage you to share it with those you know in the area.

IF YOU NEED TO EVACUATE • Take your emergency supplies kit

• DON’T DRIVE ON FLOODED ROADS

• Select a safe place to go such as a family member or friend’s home, a motel, or shelter

• Clearly plan your evacuation route and notify family or friends when you are leaving and where you are going

• Bring extra cash – banks may be closed and ATMs may not be in order as well as important family documents and seal in a waterproof container

• Pack pillows, blankets, rain gear and waterproof shoes

STAYING SAFE DURING THE FLOOD If told to evacuate, do so immediately. Never drive around barricades! Listen to EAS, NOAA Weather Radio, or local alerting systems for current emergency information and instructions. Do not walk, swim, or drive through flood waters. Stay off bridges over fast-moving water as they can wash away without warning. Gather supplies in case you must leave immediately. Keep in mind each person’s specific needs, including medication. Don’t forget the needs of pets and young children. Obtain extra batteries and charging devices for phones and other critical equipment. For additional tips and local shelters in Nebraska, please visit [Nebraska.gov] (https://nema.nebraska.gov/operations/march-2019-flood-information-and-help-links)

STAY SAFE AFTER THE FLOOD Listen to authorities for information and instructions. Return home only when authorities say it is safe. Avoid driving, except in emergencies. Snakes and other animals may be in your house. Wear heavy gloves and boots during clean up. Be aware of the risk of electrocution. Do not touch electrical equipment if it is wet or if you are standing in water. If it is safe to do so, turn off the electricity to prevent electric shock. Avoid wading in flood water, which can contain dangerous debris and be contaminated. Underground or downed power lines can also electrically charge the water. Use a generator or other gasoline-powered machinery ONLY outdoors and away from windows.

For additional tips please visit [Ready.gov] (https://www.ready.gov/floods)

PET CARE AND SAFETY Take your pets with you during evacuation, and ensure name tags are securely fastened to collars. Bring any medication, a leash, and/or pet carrier in your emergency kit. Visit [this site] (https://www.fda.gov/AnimalVeterinary/ResourcesforYou/AnimalHealthLiteracy/ucm575274.htm) for a list of resources regarding your pets.

If you are interested in volunteering please check out these opportunities!

Salvation Army

Team Rubicon

Red Cross

We hope the residents of Nebraska, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota find these resources helpful during this difficult time. Our thoughts are with you.

Stay safe everyone!

To The JobCase Family

Everybody loves a winner, it has been said, but nobody knows you when you’re down and out. One of the often unappreciated benefits of adversity is that it accelerates the process of identifying your true friends.

You never know who your real friends are until adversity overtakes you and you need cooperation.

YOUR THE BEST THANK YOU, FOR BEING THERE!!!! #ITSAFAMILYAFFARE #FRIENDS #ONELOVE
