My advice to people interested in working at #NationalOilwellVarco as a #HSESpecialist ...
I'm not one to give advice to anyone; but my encouragement to people interested in working at National Oilwell Varco as an HSE Specialist would be to get to know and learn each and every employee working on site as you meet them. As a proud, prior employee and HSE Specialist, I am already aware of NOV's necessary skills & safe working practices required by their high company standard. I would emphasize this to each employee, and use as an introduction in every group meeting. As a member of NOV, I would like to be the "teacher" they never forget. Terry

The biggest mistake I made as a #HSESpecialist at #NationalOilwellVarco ...
My biggest mistake was while helping out just prior to an employee appreciation dinner. I learned a valuable lesson in safety, (yes, even safety guys make mistakes lol.) While reading a text from my wife, I was walking at the north east side where the sandblasters and painters house, where most of our dinners are held. I was still walking while texting her back, when I stepped in a drop-off in the pavement and stumbled a bit. Our safety team was well aware of the work needed in the north area of the NOV plant, and had reported it periodically, so I should have been more aware...My biggest mistake, could have easily been a personal injury...totally employee error. The HSE team teased it could have easily been considered a "near-hit."
