A little lost

I worked at a major televison network in NYC for 16 years. The commute into midtown Manhattan from my apartment in NJ has gotten more and more difficult over the years as mass transit reliability gets worse and worse. The company laid me off 12/16/18 and I still have not found a job and my 8 weeks’ severance pay is almost gone. I have decided it is time to leave. I scoped out Knoxville TN in 2017 and went back afer the layoff, but without a job, I can’t buy a home nor can I even rent a home. Without a Knoxville address, no one will hire me. I had 3 phone interviews and no bites. I am leaving March 31st (my apartment already has a new renter lined up) and will be staying with a friend in Delaware with all of my belongings in storage and have given away or sold a lot of stuff since I decided I need to leave. She is the only person who not only would take in me but also my two cats. I never thought at 55 I’d be jobless and homeless, collecting $405 a week from NYS unemployment. I have had a job since I was 16 and never relied on anyone, with the exception of a two year stretch which folowed a different layoff. My ex husband supported me while I started my own business, then I got the 16 year job and we ended up divorcing (no kids.) I am actually a LOT lost.

I have training in a lot of different skill and no where is wanting to hire me. i have customer service, food service, office setting experience and i cant get an interview anywhere. i'm just stressing because i have 4 kids to take care of on my own. I dont know what im going to do if i have to tell my kids that we are homeless again. my mental health is on the brink of collapsing

Seriously frustrated

I became unemployed the last day of December. My company let 8 people go, the reason was lack of work. I found a great job in days. Before the week was over I had another job. The CFO who I reported to quit. A week later I was let go from the job. The company was insolvent and could not pay their bills. They were shut down. A few weeks later I found another job, not a good one, but it would pay the bills. It was a co being ran from his house A small co, but very reputable. I worked one day, and received a call from the owner the following morning and he said, he felt that I should be making less, and apologized for wasting my time. He told me that he could not afford to pay me. I'm beginnging to think I'm bad luck. I have a mortgage and kids to feed. I'm seriously frustrated. Why do employers do this.

Help!

I'm in Dyer need. My company was bought out and I was one of the ones at top. I worked very hard to become warehouse manager. And now I don't know how I'm even gonna pay rent. I am loyal, hard working and above your average everyday worker. I can learn anything!

Been looking for work for 3 months now

I'm on my last week until rent is due, and I have nothing to pay towards it. I think I'll be okay until march, being that my source of help is more likely to pull through than not. I have been putting Resumes out left and right, and still nothing concrete. I can only imagine a lot of others on here who are going through a situation similar to mine. Not that I have given up hope, I just feel down and out right now about it, and worried.

My story

Recently been in a hard situation financially and need to find work before I end up on the streets. I was on my last job for 10 years doing medical records and they let me go after medical charts moved from paper to electronic. I have been also working as a part-time musician as well and really want to be full time, but every time I get close to playing for a major platinum artist, something happens. I have endorsements, played at private celebrity award shows, a couple of famous past artist, many churches, and local artist, but nothing too major (almost though). My unemployment stopped in December and I'm thankful for being a part time musician or I'd probably be facing some major difficult times. I did work for Nissan for a little while and the car auction which I loved, but they wouldn't let me off on Sundays after they told me they would and as far as the car auction goes, I really enjoyed that, but missed the opportunity to take a full time position, which I wish didn't happen, so here I am today and right now. That's my story and I just pray to my Lord in Heaven that He will make a way out of no way. Thanks for listening to me and be blessed.
