Sharing Some Great News!

I lost my job two years ago, I was sad for about a day, I hated that job anyway so I decided to start my own business - Plaid Lizard Design in which I provide Graphic Design services, I am a Graphic Designer. It was going well but not great, I struggled when clients did not pay me on time. So I started looking for full-time employment again. I am 58 so I was concerned with age discrimination but I know I am talented and an excellent dedicated employee. It took me a little over a year but I landed a great job with other talented designers and it feels like a family. I have been there for three weeks now, I miss my naps in the middle of the afternoon! Lol! I continue to work on projects through my business Plaid Lizard Design at night because I don't want to give it up, having my own business is still my ultimate dream job. Going to work both jobs hard for now. I also have so many other side hustles I am starting, sleep is highly over rated! Lol! In your 50's or 60's? It aint over yet! In fact it's time to ramp up! Need some encouragement? - hit me up. I also have a great tool that helps me get clients, land an interview and land a job. But too much awesomeness for one post so I will share that later. Now if I could only find a man!

Very upset here.

I have been looking for a job in my area and sites recommended by my local Worksource office like Career Builder and Monster. These sites have given me no joy letters time and again. Fraudulent employment offers such as Online or Virtual receptionist really only want there starting fee and don't work here. I've thought strongly about starting a business just so I can be productive just to have the ideas only be in another place to succeed or not at all. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

What you want does not exist!

When people search for jobs in the traditional manner it becomes very frustrating. The reason is because jobs as we know it do not exist. When you look at how millennials behave they look for opportunity. They are not looking for a guaranteed pay check. They want something that fits their lifestyle for right now and when that changes they want to move on. Employers are more than happy with this arrangement. A job is a guaranteed pay check. It does not matter if you do good or bad. This is no longer the norm. As an unemployed person you spend hours each day looking for a "job" Jobs do not exist any longer. What if you spent the same amount of time looking for paying customers? While I feel every ones frustration it is hard to understand why people want to force the old method to work and don't adopt what the new workforce really is. Please let me know why you are continually looking for a job that does not exist instead of creating your own job. Please respond to wbarr22@gmail.com

Trying to transition from being a Business Owner to Employment

Wondering if anyone out there has successfully transitioned form owning their own company to working for someone else. Having run a business, I have hands-on experience in many different disciplines. Consequently, I have created different resumes tailored to individual roles (job titles) that don't indicate that I was the business owner. In addition, I have a "master" resume that encompasses everything I actually did in case I come upon a position where all my skills could be utilized but making it look like I work for the company. Finally, I have a resume that shows I owned the company. I am running up against the proverbial "Brick Wall" in my search for a corporate position. Any feedback?

61 and looking for work

I sold my business in June of 2016. Didn't get enough to retire. Started looking for work and still haven't been able to find work. I don't have a college degree. But doesn't 40+ years experience count for anything.
