Losing your benefits

I don’t know if this is inappropriate, but how can I work and get gov benefits? I feel like I’m just getting on my feet, since I just got a receptionist job where I work two days a week… but now I’m worried that since I got some sort of job I will stop getting disability benefits which I really still need because I will barely get any money from working 15 hours a week….. I don’t want to do anything illegal though, but I’m really concerned about this

Was your job stolen?

Okay, honest question. How many of you have ACTUALLY had your job stolen by an immigrant? It's in the news constantly, but I don't know if I believe millions of jobs are being stolen. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know...

"Tear Down This Wall!"

Last weekend my friends and I had a great meal at a local Italian Restaurant. Guess what...none of the cooks looked Italian. I live and work in one of these "Sanctuary" cities with a thriving restaurant industry so I would hate to see what the long term impact of a strong arm policy to enforce more local police vigilance and deportations would be on our restaurant industry. Pursuing criminal offenders is one thing but law abiding American Dream seekers deserve another criteria.

Don’t Kick'em All Out Just Yet!

This is necessarily not meant to be a direct attack on the president’s new immigration policies concerning more walls and deportations but we shouldn’t be in a RUSH to go after illegal immigrant workers without having a pool of replacement workers for jobs in industries most common US residents have NO interest working in. Why don’t we explore options to integrate all the illegal workers with good records?

Jobs are Boomin' but No Workers

All indications show advanced manufacturing jobs are on the rise in the US but employers can’t find enough interested and qualified applicants to fill the job openings. Yeah, we all get excited and cheer whenever Trump say’s he’s bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US but what good is that NOBODY’S interested in those type of jobs. Why do other developed countries like Germany have more success recruiting and maintaining a “New Collar” manufacturing workforce?

Retail is Dying so What’s next?

If malls are dead and retail industries leaders like Macy’s, Sears, and Kmart are closing stores then where will the future jobs be for the millions of the moderate to low skilled American workers?

Getting Discouraged

Hi my name is Jamonica Torain. My professional background consists of the mortgage/finance industry almost 16 years now. I lost my job last July after graduating from college a month prior to. I was an Account Analyst at Seterus IBM for almost 5 years as a contract employee. Before IBM, I acquired 9 years experience as an Mortgage Loan Closer. Basically my career initially ended back in 2008 when the mortgage sub prime industry crashed. I haven't had a permanent job with benefits since! Since my recent lay-off I've earned my state life insurance licensed but business isn't going to well. I am constantly filling out apps, going on interviews, registering with employment agencies, revising resume etc. I am beginning to get discouraged and weary. I feel like I've done everything right but just can't get ahead. Can anyone please help? I need a job asap. Thanks and I wish everyone much success! - Jamonica
