My advice to people interested in working at #StevensTransport as a #Driver/Trainersafetyinstructor ...

I loved working at Stevens transport it was a great opportunity and the people there are great dms a chorus they suck but you get you good ones as well and the employees are great I worked on the yard and over the road and as a trainer the pay is not that good but if u want to start Somewhere Stevens is the place to start You do 6 weeks of training and they pay you just not for imitation great opportunity I've worked there for almost 3 years and unfortunately I got sick and couldn't work over the road anymore and they had to let me go it it's not a bad place

LiVID as hell!

I went through the interviews did all the jumping through hoops got my class A CDL all I needed to do was pay the. DoT$12 for a chauffeur's passenger endorsement and Workforce cut off my benefits because they sent the mail to the wrong address and blamed me for not making an appointment that I didn't even know about because they sent the mail to the wrong address. Because they cut off my benefits for 15 days I had to tell all employers I applied at that I could not make interviews second interviews third interviews and they had to put me at the end of their list. I thought Workforce was supposed to help you get a job they did nothing but hinder me, talk about pissed off!!!

Age 53 And Getting Laid Off is Really Frightening/Pissing Me Off!

Hi all -- I'm new here. I'm normally a well balanced individual, but I was laid off from 3 years of loyal service to the same company this November. Filed for Unemployment Benefits, food stamps right away -- the whole shebang that takes up to 1 month to be cleared with the State benefits department. There just must be a helluva lot of layoffs going on -- you used to be able to get your emergency food stamps right away 6 years ago in Texas! Anyway, my hopes for driving with Uber on a budget were simply crushed this week. And I mean it crushed the life out of me ....after I researched what budget you need to lease to own a car to drive for Uber full time. It's like, $450 a week with gas factored in, not to mention a non-refundable $500 deposit with the leasing company called "Fair." (really?? LOL!) If that weren't bad enough, I just have had so many jobs throughout my life that I hated. And I mean HATED because I never had an opportunity to finish my education and take all that experience into becoming an Active Nun in the Church. Now that I'm an "old lady" still out in the rat race, I have a huge problem with work/life balance and autonomy/authority on the job. The old Mick Jagger song "ya gotta serve somebody" is still true but ..... I have big time problems even respecting companies enough to write a freaking cover letter. To me, cover letters are almost like boot-licking: you might love the job you see, or the company you see, but there could still be something seriously wrong going on within (like all the ca-ca drama at my past job of 3 years.) I just don't trust employers anymore, but didn't have an independent gig going for myself during those crappy 3 years that shows my true abilities.....how do I get over this GIANT mountain of resentment faced with "working for the man" again instead of Ubering? Please help me get a good perspective back on the road ahead!
