I was hired by a Property Management Co. who was renovating a Historical Bank Building in Downtown Berkeley. As I began to hire Contractors and began the tedious inspection of Repairs by Urgency Needs. And the fact that the New Upper Management did not quite like anything that I did positive at all! Now mine you I was hired by the out going CEO who was retiring and was Rushed through a Paid Training Program designed for 6 weeks but I was given only 2 days to grasp it all or else! After being flown back from Corporate Office in Orange County and within a 2 week time span I was told that I was being let go. That I didn't fit the Company's look or profile for it's expansion into Northern California! Didn't have the Right Complexion! Even though I was doing a outstanding job according to the existing tenants and supply vendors! Racism is Alive with this Management Company and it's Businesss Affiliates!

It's interesting that these are heartfelt posts that people post to express their dismay and disappointment about not getting hired for one reason or more. It could be that they are considered past the bloom of youth over 40, 50 or 60, they are minorities, they have too much experience or they just don't fit the work culture. Either way, when I was managing for several companies years ago, there was a link similar to this where employees of various companies would post their concerns very candidly and talk about everything under the sun. We later found out that this post was out there specifically to see what rumors were going on in the companies. It was the worst thing ever! So...who is reading these posts besides people who have not been hired for jobs? Probably the people that didn't hire them.

I believe it could be a training session to see what the companies might need to change in the way of hiring practices. When you have applied for 15 jobs and no one is hiring in your field, you begin applying for simply "Work." When you do that and you are overqualified, inexperience and age, they ask you this stupid question, "Why do you want this job!" You want to become a fly and puke at that point at the interview table. Or, the final question in every interview, "What do you hate about yourself?" Now I don't know about you but the person that asked me that should have been fired! I told them..."Nothing." I might want to look for opportunities to change some things about the way I handle some issues at work, but to hate myself is not a good thing. So, if you are a Manager, Supervisor or someone with the ability to hire, take a lesson from what you are reading from each post and be more creative in the interview when you have overqualified applicants that don't sound 50 or 60 over the phone and they may not have graduated high school with their graduating class but may have gone back to school years later which gives them a more "recent" graduation date which tricks the system for the interview...aaah yes...Then when they walk in and the interviewers are intimated with their poise, presence and stamina, the may reason you won't get the job is because the interviewers are fearful of losing theirs to you if they bring you on board. I resolved that problem years ago...I now work for myself and hire all of those great folks with the skills that I need in my business. Anyone looking for work?

I been looking work for quite some moment now. The workforces are extremely challenging. since i started. I have been on some jobs and i just don't see the equality for fairness and that get to my guts.Fairness and Equality should be built on this Fondation of United States i let action speak louder than words. I just want fairness with all race and myself and I. Knowing and Observing is someting speak lounder than itself. I just don't believe jobs are require to hire who they like. With equality make it equally not just one nationality make it fare because it one right

Its very discouraging. As a younger dumber person I went ahead and got a cross tattooed on my face and now it is more apparent than ever that was not a smart decision. I work my butt off when I have a job though! I feel like people should look past the tattoos someone has realistically it should fall into the anti discriminatory policy for race, religion, gender identification, etc..

first let me clarify something age Is nothing but a number. It doesn't means you're smarter or more mature it just means you been in this world longer dying. Secondly if companies were serious about hiring people then they will not discriminate you just for the way you look or the color of your skin. Especially if it a minimum wage job. It took almost 5 months just for a email to come through saying I been turned down for a job because they decided to go with others applicants who meet their matches even know I know it was due to my skin color because I worked retail and fast food jobs all my life so I know I meet their requirements they just don't want to admit they are racist and actually looking for people who are Hispanics, whites, or Asians who are younger looking not to mention I applied for other jobs as well but got the same emails even know they were all low pay minimum wage jobs it takes little to no effort but I ain't going to sweat myself or go through nonsense or stupidly it their loss not mines.

Being a woman, I'm appalled that so many shops are NOT willing to hire a female for work in the shop!!! I have had several years hands on - body/paint work and Mechanics - with an old family friend who is more than qualified to aim for the moon in any Body/Mechanical shop.

He finally convinced me to complete both courses and chase what I truly love. I'm in the Jackson, MS area - and although I realize that I still have a lot to learn - I either don't get an interview at all or else the interview seems to end on an awkward note.

What can I do to help promote myself to the available market and finally get a chance to prove myself?

I actually managed to use my own vehicle to better understand what I couldn't in class and then turned the knowledge on my car to make several "big" repairs myself. I'm ready and more than willing to give the effort and time to doing it right the first time.

Are the guys just that intimidated by the thought of having a woman in the shop?

Jobs out here now are not hiring people cause,there Disability,there race and gender and more people out here struggling to take care of there family and others are Judging them from the outside but not looking in the world is sad and people are not letting God move he have to be in your character to to be the best regards of what people say is to show what kind of business owner you going to be.

I was fired in disremination of my religious tattoos and a couple of other dumb reasons from gores fresh meats in stephens city virginia .what should i do ??? I was working there for at least 3-4 weeks and told me i was fired beacause the employee that had a problem with me even though i was in the right told me that was there best employee they got and being called stupid everyday
