I worked for OKDHS for 28 years. It was a great and also sometimes brutal experience. The positions I held were not for the weak of heart (CPS, OCA, APSand DDSD). The pay was poor, but I chose the Social Work Field with the drive and heart to help others. I have fond memories of co-workers who became friends. I probably have PTSD from years of dealing with heinous crimes against children where justice was not served.
N n ot much to say . Not a good place to work wages low an no raises are given. Nowhere job. Company workers are short abtupt an aggressive. Steer clear.
I loved caring for the Vets.
I loved the "Careers Program" and that there was a college on or near every base. The order and discipline of working on a military was an excellent choice for me. Thanks DOD.
It’s difficult for me, because I am not interested in cliques, but it’s that way and a lot of the people are selfish, self-centered, and self absorbed! I always give 110% in what ever job I do because I serve only one master and I work to please Him!
The ability to be more mobile.
The families I was able to serve and children I was able to help get adopted
The community, saff and kids .
My simple answer is this : just for being the State Deputy Director of the WIC federal program was very rewarding not because of the stature of the position but the opportunity to learn how to utilize the resources of the program to help those in needs and less fortunate . Back in 1985 when I joined our budget was not enough , but with hard efforts we were capable to double that budget . There are multiple challenges when you have to work under heavy budget limitations , but what I have learned from those challeges is that the best way to learn is dedication , trust in your actions , responsibility and foremost , Faith.
