2016: The Year of "Not A Good Fit"
I'll get right to the point:
I worked for three days on a taxonomy project for a large wholesale membership grocery outlet for $20 an hour which was basically grunt work. I took the assignment because I figured it was better than being on Unemployment. After the third day of work, my recruiter called me in the evening and said that the managers felt that I wasn't a "good fit" so they let me go. Two of the reasons for this was 1) I was 5 minutes late to work and 2) someone spotted me walking in my socks. Is that a huge sin? And the entire 24 hours I was there, everyone was saying "Thank you, great work, good job" and I asked for feedback to make sure I was giving them what they wanted----and then BAM!
Earlier this year, I worked as a web/email producer for a small boutique cruise line for a month. When I started, my manager was so excited to have me there. However, over the course of four weeks, I noticed that she began to be colder towards me...colder and colder until I was told that the contract was over. When I asked her why, she replied "I don't want to get into it. It's just not a good fit." I did make my share of mistakes. Perhaps I was TOO excited about working at this company because I loved the job. Maybe I should have been "Seen and not heard."
Following that, I worked on a migration project for a large software company here in the NW. It was intended to be a QA position that morphed into a WordPress dev job over the course of a month. When my manager took off for vacation, the client (the stakeholder who was paying for the work to be done) informed my recruiter that my work was not up to snuff (they had already released a team member the previous week) and if I couldn't show massive improvement, I was out. Sure enough, a week later, I was out.
So that's three projects that I've been bounced out on with all of them saying that I wasn't "a good fit." The common denominator is me but I cannot for the life of me determine what I am doing wrong.
I will admit that the most recent position wasn't one that I leaped out of bed to go to. I found myself wishing I was home with my family and Unemployment would have paid more per week. But I did want to do the best job I could on this project, regardless.
What am I doing wrong? Is it me or is it them? I'm a 55 y/o white dude with some pretty good digital marketing skills. Am I just outdated? Let me know!

I am at a lost...
I am totally at a lost. I finished a contract assignment the end of May. Since then I have been fortunate enough to have been on many interviews, both phone and in person, but no job offer. I'm 58 years old but that can be determined by my resume. The only comments I have received are 1). I'm not a cultural fit and 2). That I didn't properly call out my experience (I corrected that). What the H..LL is cultural fit? The interviews seem to go well. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong?! I'm really desperate at this point. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm a contract analyst/certified paralegal. HELP!

I am recently in the job market as a Registered Nurse Case Manager, and I am finding that most of the potential employers are now only utilizing contract employees initially, and then they are offering positions. I was wondering if this is a regional issue or if this is the norm throughout the USA? I am in the Midwest.

I love home depot
I have worked at home depot warehouse in Monroe but I was working for a subcontractor company that was a cleaning service. I've already applied for home depot and had got told at the moment I didn't meat their timing, that they would keep ahold of my application for 6months. I have epj experience. I miss working at home depot. I live in Middletown oh. How far is that from me?

Wrongful termination
My boss at my last job working for kimmen installation came over to my house drinking one day. We began to talk about business and future jobs for the business. I then asked for a raise and he blew up pushed me across the living room and threw my wife into the kitchen. U tried to talk to him and him down and he fired me on the spot. My boss ( Larry Kimmen) is a lowes contractor for east Texas. Only seems to care about how much money he makes off of his sub contractors (which I was).

Contract Work Until Permanent Job Is Found
Greetings all, I'm currently considering a contract job but would totally prefer a permanent job. What do you do if you accept a contract job and the permanent job opens up and offers you a position?

Be My Own Boss!
Is there a better earning potential if I own my truck? I’m an active CDL licensed driver thinking about getting into the trucking industry as a contractor or self employed operator. How difficult is it to find contracting opportunities with distributors? I’m concerned about making such a big investment upfront with little to no employment guarantees. Is partnering with a big outfit like Melton a realistic endeavor? Please respond or send me a message if you have any helpful info to share.
