Subcontracts manager
I'm a 62 yr old construction subcontracts manager who has twice been laid off because they could get a younger person with no or little experience to fill the slot. I find that they want "yes men", they don't want the truth, but at the same time they want me to be agressive in pursuing the contractors. They don't understand the job. I'm casting out for a new position but have been unsuccessful so far. People say "just retire". You can't if you've not put enough away . They can't understand that either. Is it just me or are people getting very short sighted?

Military contracting
I have been trying to get a military contracting job in the mechanical field since before I got out of the Army do you think you can help me out.

Is it better to look like job hopper or leave a gap on my resume?
I broke my arm in the fall of 2014 and had to quit my warehouse job because I wasn’t able to work. Last year I bounced around different temp and seasonal jobs but nothing stable enough or lasting more than 3 months. Should I keep those jobs on my resume and risk looking like a job hopper or should I remove them and explain the employment gap on a cover letter?

Independent contractor
Hard worker,

Are the labor laws in this country being enforced?
I recently accepted a temp job as a supervisor for construction restoration company with a big name in Texas. In the beginning I was skeptical about taking the job. Because my field is in electronics & telecommunication. To make a long story short .. I found out the people whom I was suppose to supervise was hired by another contractor. That never ask them for any of their personal information such as social or driver license. Just sent them to job site and told them to work and us to supervise. Now I hearing the contract has been cancelled and no one seems to know how their getting paid. Is this what America mean when they say their a free country?

Why would companies/recruiters overlook someone because of past contracting experience.
I've done a lot o contracting for a number of companies over the past 15 years and the question I why so many contracting positions. One the job economy, 2 to find out about companies in a city that I have no experience in and no network. What do I do?

Is your company aware of and investing in its business continuity?
ContinuityWorks LLC is a company that I started to support businesses and organizations that are concerned about their ability to respond to, and survive, interruption and high risk events of all types. I have over 24 years of business continuity management, organizational development and consulting experience, as well as passion for developing creative strategies to support businesses in their efforts to help themselves, and in some cases, meet compliance and regulatory requirements.
Does your company have a business continuity program? Is this something that you think and care about?
My search is a passive one as I strive to get a sense of how business continuity is perceived and what business executives, managers, and business owners are, quite literally, planning to do about it. That said, ContinuityWorks LLC is available for contract work and projects within the United States.
Oh, I also consult to individuals on a limited basis to address professional continuity issues and as a mentor.
Thanks,
Arlene
