The Saddest Thing I've Had to Do: Declining an Offer from a Great Company
After more than a year a infuriating and sometimes heartbreaking job search as I struggled to complete grad school while working fulltime, I finally scored an interview with a Fortune 100 company. I prepared. I was excited. I got an offer: 75K base, 12.5K signing bonus, and 14K relocation package. I have to decline.
The state income tax and the cost of living compared to where I live now making 62K would actually result in a decline in my quality of life. I'm so depressed. I really wanted to have a career at this company. It's a fantastic company, but with student loan repayment approaching I would be a working poor.

What is the position
How much do you start off with. As far a pay.

Help Desk Manager
I am looking for a Job as a Help Desk Manager in the Southern US. I have over 17 years expense. I have no issues getting a work visa and don't require a sponsor. Looking for wages at $85000

This doesn’t make sense
My search keeps pulling up minimum wage jobs that prefer hiring college grads. What’s the deal with that? I thought college level jobs had a higher starting wage. I remember the days when previous work experience was enough to get hired for these jobs. Has the labor market changed that much?? Why do I need to go into more debt to earn a college degree or certificate just to qualify for a minimum wage job?

Mortgage Loan Processor
I was laid off from a BPO after 4.5 years. The company provided letters stating I was separated from the company in good standing. I have just learned that they are hiring for that position and have two training classes over the next 2 months. Previously I was promoted but never received the increase. When I inquired about the raise the program head, Kim Hoffman, advised I would be compensated but after 4 months I was laid off. Do I have grounds for a suit?

Night Auditor/Front Desk Reservations
I. Was trained to be one of the night auditors /front desk reservations. I loved the job and was doing great. Then an incident happened not related to work. I was let go (by another employee who was filling in for the manager as the manager was in another state). I did everything I was suppose to do relating to the incident, but she did not care, nor did the manager. I tried to get in touch with the owners but they never responded.. I worked so hard to learn the job and loved it. The account who trained me later quit. And I have been struggling trying to keep up financially. I will never understand how people can be so uncaring and two faced. I still feel the company should compensate me for all my hardship.

Retired but Need to Work
I retired a few years ago after working a full career as an executive in government, the private sector, and the non-profit world. I need to work to supplement my income and to build an estate for my extended family since my sister recently passed away unexpectedly.
I am a capable manager with two M.S. degrees and a PhD and other graduate work. However, the most important thing for me now is to start earning an income, and I will discuss any appropriate offer that will allow me to work from home using my computer and the internet connection.
