Beyond confused.

I applied for a position as an assistant manager position in retail, I don't have any experience in retail or in management so I figured it was a long shot, was never called in for an interview but over a month later I was offered the job through an email and was sent instructions to fill out a hire packet online. I got a phone call the day after confirming my salary and letting me know someone would call me after my background check and drug screening came back. That was two weeks ago, I've never had to do a background check and I'm getting conflicting answers online about how long one should take. I called to check on the status last week and the person I talked to didn't know anything but, said he'd call me back after he talked to someone who would know, he never called back so I called again yesterday, he didn't pick up so I left a message and I'm still waiting. I'm in my mid twenties and kept the same job since I was 19 and I landed it by going in and asking if they were hiring, so I'm rather inexperienced in the hiring process. Is it possible they sent the email and hiring packet to the wrong candidate? It's a small town and I know several people who work at the store, but I don't believe I know any of the managers. Also, how many times can I call to check on the status without being a pest?

My advice to people interested in working at #IronSkillet as a #AssistantManager ...

Just don't do it!! If the incredibly horrible cockroach problem doesn't get ya, how would you feel about being made to serve soup after someone just pulled 2 cockroaches out of it. Horrible environment. Lack of accountability, managers don't work, they just sit in office and claim to be working managers.
