It's a hard time right now
Stuck between being a burden on my parent's wallets and have moved from my home 1500 miles away. I have realized that I seriously need to get a job doing what I've trained to do all of my high school career and my own time by myself. I'm going to show my new employer that I am not only a hard worker when it comes to something I love like 3D modeling and drafting. But I will excel with whoever gives me the chance.

Career searching at 39
Hi guys! I’ve been living in LA since 2016 as a freelance photographer & I bartend too. I’ve been busting my ass and now want to pursue a new career but I’m not sure what! I have a BA but have been out of school for years and and feel directionless!

I decided to work for #TheUnicornGarden because...
I wanted to see if I could make it as a self employed artist. During the late 80s through 2005 I did just that and made a good living selling my handmade jewelry, stuffed animals and various other arts and crafts in consignment shops, online and in my own booth at a local art market and a small mall. I may go back to it someday but was glad to go back to a guaranteed paycheck when my husband's life went into a tailspin and after he died a short time ago.

THE MISTAKE OF MY LIFE
When I was very young--in my late teens and early twenties--I had some success with my writing (poems and short stories). I decided to make a career of creative writing and pursued it aggressively through college, grad school and beyond. In order to finance my passion I worked a wide and dismal variety of jobs, mainly as a receptionist for a number of different companies. I managed to get an agent and completed a novel that I thought was terrible but my agent seemed to think it held promise. We submitted it all over New York to no avail. Meanwhile, I placed in the finals of a couple of major literary contests--close but no cigar. Throughout this time, I considered returning to school and changing careers to something that engaged my mind and my soul, but I was on a kind of work treadmill, with bills and responsibilities, and so continued at my original administrative work. I failed miserably, both as a writer and as a receptionist--I was fired from something like eleven or twelve jobs in a row. I simply could NIT keep my mind on my work. It was far too boring and stagnating. If I had it to do over again I'd do something entirely different and wouldn't have wasted thirty years being semi-miserable and exhausted every fucking day of my precious life. Let this be a warning to aspiring writers out there: DON'T DO IT. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.
