Retired Accounting Technician Supervisor-Department of the Navy
I was working for the DAO ( Defense Accounting Office ) Arlington and was selected to spend nine months on the Nation-Wide DFAS ( Defense Finance Accounting Service Committee ) while I was employed in Arlington, VA. A guarantee for contributors to this committee was protection from-Reprisal, Removal, and Antagonism for the remainder of their federal career. Despite this guarantee at the very next federal agency that I was employed at I was the victim of Reprisal, Removal, and Antagonism. Just where was my guaranteed job protection? levcic

Accountant Looking
I have over 25 years of Automotive Accounting experience in the Car Dealership field, and I can't seem to find a job. I have had multiple interviews and never a second interview. I can't understand why I'm not being considered for these positions after the initial meeting. The first interview always goes so well. Graduated with a 4.0 GPA in my major of Accounting and a 3.87 overall GPA. and plenty of extra curriculum activities....I'm confused.................what's the problem

Losing hope ! Trying to stay positive
Hello Friends, I lost my job in Aug 2017 and since then have been trying hard to get back working. I have huge finance and accounting experience (over 30 years) and have been working as a CFO for last 10 years. Must have submitted over 200 applications and was able to generate only 3 interviews so far. Its very very frustrating. Not sure what to do. Trying to stay positive buts its hard, losing hopes now.

How do we find out firms who want an older experienced accountant?
Changing careers in the mid 50s is much tougher than I ever realized.

New Job
I just received a job offer from a company here in Atlanta GA as a Staff Accountant. This was after long months of being unemployed and doing some Contract work thru a staffing agency. I highly recommend to use Staffing Companies for your job search since they get jobs b4 they are posted out on job boards. I will start my new job on Thursday of this week and I am looking forward to this new opportunity. I went on numerous interviews with different companies and it taught me plenty. Even if you feel that you are not qualified for the job or don't have Exactly what the job description asks for apply anyway. Most companies look at the total body of work on your resume so a Hiring mgr will call you to find out if you think you can do the job.

Jobless At 29 Years Old...Please Help
Hello, I am 29 years old and earned my B.S. in Accounting as of May, 2017 and graduated with honors (3.5GPA). I am a member of the international Honors society Delta Mu Delta: Beta Upsilon chapter at Mercy College. I am also in the beginning stages of earning my M.S. in Accounting and taking my C.P.A. as well. I though that If I did well and worked hard in school that I would be able to get a job in order to support a family, have a house, and marry my girlfriend of 6 years; the "American Dream." Alas, I remain unemployed and, therefore, cannot afford any of these things. I wish I had known how important it was to get an internship before I graduated. Now I am terrified that I am going to end up on the street. I am one of the more capable and intelligent people you will meet (thats not coming from me, I'm not that vain), if you meet me that is. All I need is one chance to prove myself. I know I am older than most candidates for internship and junior level staff positions, but my age and life experience makes me a better decision maker, problem solver, critical thinker, and improvisor. I am diligent, capable of learning anything, and effective in a crisis situation. I possess excellent computer skills, including the ability to use most Accounting Information Systems (e.g. Peachtree/Sage, MS Great Plains), and I earned my Microsoft Office Specialist certificate in Excel; I can also build computers and have a basic understanding of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency. Being a bit older brings with it a better sense of ethics and global events; age also comes a wide berth of knowledge about thousands of subjects, including Accounting, Physics, Economics, Finance, Wildlife Biology, Power Generation, Business Law, Strategic Reasoning, Publlic Speaking, Chemistry, Calculus, and myriad other subjects. I have studied Deepak Chopra, world religions, music, and the arts, I'm not trying to brag (I am trying to advertise my skills to be honest). I don't know what I am doing wrong? I would prefer to work in Audit but at this point just about anything would be acceptable, I just need to get my foot in the door. I really don't want to waste my $60,000 college education flipping burgers or answering calls for the rest of my life. I refuse to give up, and I know that I can do this, but I would appreciate a leg up, or at least for someone to point me in the right direction. Any responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this and please get in touch with me if you have any advice. Sincerely, Matthew M. Hollwedel

It's a great place to work. Expect to earn your pay because the workload is heavy but you'll have a strong supportive staff to work with.
