Prep cook/line cook?
Are these positions hard and Stressful , got an offer after three interviews two women and the guy which will train was sort of discouraging but I want this job

Nice work making it through multiple rounds of interviews @Lakeysa Smith! A Line Cook position can be difficult at times, but I can see from your profile that you have a lot of experience in fast paced Customer Facing roles in the past! You could use what you've learned about managing under pressure from Knotts Berry Farm, and what you've learned about multitasking from working at Target, and the physical strength you've developed at FedEx will be most important of all!
It's great to hear that there are already some women working at the restaurant, hopefully they help set the tone there, and it's a good sign they're still working there long enough to be in management! I would make sure to prepare yourself for a stressful and physically demanding environment, but also trust that you can lean on everything you've learned in the past and that they will train you as well! Let this Community know how else we can help you with this job! I've been in #FoodServices for a decade and know how important it is to have connections with those in the industry. Reach out to me if I can help you in any way! Good Luck! 👩🍳💖

being a line cook (was a chef for 12 yrs) can be stressful at times, but staying focused in the moment helps. I love cooking and was always passionate about the work. So i'd come home exhausted, but super pumped about getting through a crazy night. grill could be hard if you dont know your temps and times for meat (expensive to waste), saute is full bore all eyes burning with a lot to keep up with, but have cook times for each pan about 7 min. fry is easiest or garde manger. if you are a first time in the kitchen you'd probably would start there.

Exciting News @Lakeysa Smith , Congrats! Please keep in mind that any new job is going to feel challenging and overwhelming at first but that's part of the process that makes a new journey worth while and rewarding. The foodservice industry is also notorious for being fast-paced. Don't let the newness and/or any unjustified pre-judgements about the leaders and trainers you're interacting with discourage you from achieving your goals.
Focus on learning the job tasks and responsibilities. Ask questions, stay focused, and don't get down on yourself when/if you make mistakes. Practice makes perfect!
The 3 tiered interview process you managed to successfully achieve speaks volumes towards your skills, previous work experience, and potential. Challenge yourself to do your best everyday and let your growth speak for itself... You Got This!

@Lakeysa Smith congrats on getting a job that is the backbone of any successful restaurant. The prep cook position is a lot less stressful (IMHO) than the line cook work. The one way to keep stress away the best as a line cook is to get you mise en place neat, ready and always stocked and ready to go. This way when you start to get slammed you can prevent yourself from getting in the weeds. You've got this!

Awesome job! I had a cook position & worked my way up to drive thru & the front counter. Being a cook is not the best job, but you work hard you will get recognized as a hard worker! Good luck!!

I’ve been a chef / restaurant owner for over 35 years , congratulations on a new gig in the kitchen, the prep position is a VIP position in the kitchen, best advise I can give you is master your time management skills , knife skills , and organizational skills and you will go extremely far! Good luck 💪🏻😊

Hi

OMG, Fantastic news @Lakeysa Smith , Congrats
Congratulations on the offer! You're asking the right questions to yourself whether it's a good fit for you. Did they offer you a job description? I've seen a VERY HELPFUL discussion about how do I know if I'm a good fit from a line cook job description. Take a look and you can also follow up with other helpful commenters to learn more about their perspective!
