
How do I know what type of job to look for?
I was laid off a few months ago and only have a few years of experience, so I haven't really found my niche in the business world. What types of jobs are out there for people in my situation? #jobsearch #careerdiscovery

You might try going to your local community college and seeing if you can take a career test; it would tell you what kind of job you're suited for. Also, think of what kind of things you like to do. That might help you find something. Then, just start researching what kind of positions are out there. Put your resume online and see what jobs the AI matches you to and if you like those jobs. The community college might be able to help you there as well. Also, look back at the jobs you've had and list out what you did and didn't like about each. That will help you decide what kind of office you like. Is pay important to you, is interesting work more important, etc.? And always remember: good grammar and proper spelling are always important.

Your niche frequently changes over time. When I started, my preferred position (technical writer) wasn't even a position yet. Find out what you like and excel at and go from there. And, for anyone out there who might like math, a mathematics degree can really help you go places. It's used in so many ways outside of science and accounting.
