Should you discuss your pay with coworkers or ask what they are making?

That would be that last thing you would wish to do. Some people are jealous. I do not want to pick quarrel with nobody and would not like to be feeling cheated. So I stay on my lane.

Yes, because it can force employers to address pay inequities. When we keep our pay a secret, we’re allowing corporations the freedoms to underpay their employees without anyone finding out. These inequities are part of the economic issues our country is facing; employers need to be held accountable for paying their employees fair wages.

Salary is something that is private and should be kept to yourself.

There was a floor tech under my management making just as much as I was.. how could we feel comfortable in a position of leadership when our employer don't feel we're important enough to be paid our due salaries.. instead they terminate us then fill our position with someone who would take the low pay for the same position.

Rule of Thumb! Never. It's the most wreckless conversation you will ever have.

No-No-No this can create emotions in the workplace best avoided.

It's always a good idea to have an idea of what others in your position make before applying for the position and/ or when discussing increases/raises. I think there are plenty of reasons someone would/wouldn't want to discuss their salary with coworkers. This can be a very hot topic and you should research and make your own decision.

Never

No never talk about your salary.
@Bill Branstetter I personally don’t mind discussing pay. Discussions about pay can disclose if the company is being fair or not. Good thing about working for the union is we don’t have to worry about that.
