Hi Jamie,

I know you may be anxious to start working but know that while many states allow those 15+ to work with a permit, many companies have set their own required working age to 18+, as schedule flexibility is important to meet staffing needs.

This isn't to say that you can't acquire a part-time job, but you will have to check with your residential state to ensure you can work, have a work permit, and start looking into companies that provide opportunities for those under 18+. In some cases, you may be forced to wait until you turn 18 but you won't know until you search companies that spark your interest.

Check local businesses in your area and ask family, and friends if they know of any job opportunities for the underage.

Best.

Don’t listen to these people who say you won’t be hired at 16, just message me where you from and I’ll see if we have a building out where you are

Try your local grocery stores and fast food chains like Wendy's, Burger King, etc. Many of these jobs, you have to be at least 16 years of age to work. Good luck!!

At 16 years old you can get a work permit so you can start anywhere. Temp services have jobs to start you off find one in your community. Continue your schooling too' A work study trade school would be good and put in your mind what you really like doing even if you don't start there. You should be fine'

Hi Jaime The fast food places like McDonald's, Taco bell, Popeyes etc. They all hire under 18 with no problem. I would try there to start. Work permit may be required for your state. Good luck!

My granddaughter did a three month internship then used that reference to get a P art time job at Walmart. At 16 finish school. She would work full-time if she could. Proud of her, she is off to a great start. Don't be in a hurry.
