You do not have to be fired only. You can be laid off, you can even quit under certain circumstances. However, the only way you can get unemployment is if you are actively looking for a job and if a job is offered to you, you have to take it. Like the other reply said, your best hope is short term disability.
You are only eligible for unemployment if you are fired from your job. I hope you had short term disability and sick time at your job. Otherwise you’ll have to live on some thing until your case settles and you get some money from the settlement. Hopefully it was not your fault. Good luck to you.
was this wreck job related. i do not know the extent of your injuries. where you working before this happened. did you have long and short term disability, any sick days, vacation time saved. you can go on welfare , social security, or your states health program. you should talk to a professional , lawyer, contact your state representative office to see what your options are.
First of all, call your works’ Human Resources office and ask them. It sounds like you need State Disability Insurance SDI not Unemployment Insurance UI. You are considered temporarily disabled if you are injured and need time to heal. I’m sorry this happened to you but rest assured you are entitled to that time off and to get paid.
