Hi Katie, remember that it is our jobs to educate our communities about the dangers of recividism and that not allowing men and women who have gotten felonies in their pasts a chance and making better choices and hiring them instead of rejecting them where they do not have the ability to take care of themselves therefore they turn to the old habbits, the only way they have to provide for themselves. By encouraging these men and women and giving them the opportunity to do the right things, good things will happen. Right now you have to go through about 20 no's before you will get a yes. So for now, accept those no's with a smile, knowing that you are one step closer to your your yes. There is an organization called Prison Fellowship Ministries, that gives us the chance to be a Justice Advocate for the men and women behind bars. Justice Advocates contact their State Representatives and try to tell them the importance of these issues and try to get laws passed that will help felons get the right amount of time for their crime, constructive correction while they are in prison and guidance for getting a job, housing and a chance to provide for themselves the right way. If nobody tries to educate our communities and our Representatives about the importance of helping not halting our brothers and sisters behind bars, the situation will only get worse. Keep a positive attitude and get those "No's" out of the way so you can get your yes and then give your best effort to be your best new self everyday and that will pave the way for men and women who have felonies to get second chances and support and end recividism for good. Go to: prisonfellowshipadvocacy@pfm.org and find out how you can represent your state in ending this serious problem felons face every single day in every single state. They give you all the support you need to go to your representatives and communities to start to get rid of this. I encourage you to do this and spread the word......This is a real problem. Good luck in your search for employment and remember the no's are necessarily a bad thing so don't get discouraged, get the no's out of the way so you can get your YES....and start working.

@Katie Lowery, if you are receiving SSD benefits, your case manager or local Social Security agency can help you with job resources. You are allowed to work while receiving benefits but need to be aware of the types of job roles approved for you. I have provided links below for you to explore.

In addition, you can find assistance with your job search that will help qualify you for employment that is both accessible & felon friendly. Your local DHS office, local colleges & Employment Division may have options that will suit your needs.

@Katie Lowery, I have never believed felonies to be friendly, but to use it to your advantage, distribution can transfer to many different areas. What about sales? Of the legitimate kind, of course. As long as ideas and products are being created, there will always be a need for someone to peddle that idea, service, or product. There is also a big demand for distribution managers, which I believe you may excel in and may even be able to perform the duties from home. Here are some examples of what I mean: organizing shipments; coordinating drivers, vehicles, deliveries, and passengers; operating IT systems to manage timings, costs and stock levels; analyzing data to assess performance; monitoring stock; managing staff and shifts; ensuring health and safety standards are met; finding other businesses clients. I'll bet you have most, if not all of the following skills: interpersonal skills – the ability to work well in a team, as well as to manage and motivate others; logical reasoning and problem-solving skills; the ability to think creatively; interpersonal skills; logical reasoning; time-management ability the ability to plan ahead and deal with unexpected changes, and many more too numerous to mention.
