Best platform to buy a cheap used car for a new job as a mechanic?
Starting a new job as a mechanic and need a cheap, reliable used car for daily commuting. Just looking something easy to maintain and not too expensive to buy.
Are there any good platforms or auction sites where you can actually find budget-friendly used cars (even repairable ones) without overpaying at dealerships? #cars #usedcars #mechanic #job

Facebook Marketplace + Copart combo works well. Marketplace for quick local deals, Copart for bigger savings if you’re okay with auction timing. That’s how I found my last commuter.

If you’re a mechanic, honestly auctions are your best bet. I’ve seen a lot of decent commuter cars go through Copart that just needed minor work. You just have to be patient and check photos carefully before bidding.

I bought a used Corolla from Copart auction but you need a dealer license or a broker. My experience with autobidmaster wass very positive.

i thing about it!

Don’t overthink it. Any cheap Toyota/Honda you can inspect yourself is usually better than chasing perfect deals.

As a mechanic on a budget, consider checking out Jobcase, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and local auctions for cheap, reliable used cars. Be sure to have any potential purchases inspected by a trusted mechanic before making a decision. Best of luck with your new job! #cars #usedcars #mechanic #jobsearch.
I was in a similar spot when I started my current job. I didn't have a dealer license, so I used AutoBidMaster to buy through Copart instead of trying to figure out dealer-only auctions. Ended up with a clean-running Civic that needed a bumper and a headlight. Since you're a mechanic, fixing something minor yourself can save a lot compared to buying the same car from a dealership. Good luck.
