Job Recruitment for passenger van drivers in Boston next Thursday, $15/hr + Benefits
We are hosting Bridj for a recruitment next Thursday at our offices on Federal Street in Boston. Bridj is a small company that is growing quickly and needs drivers for their passenger vans which carry passengers to and from a few locations in Boston and Cambridge.
Jobs start at $15/hr and include a comprehensive benefits package. More information on the position and candidate requirements are available in the attached flyer.

Hospitality Training program, information session tomorrow, May 26th at 1:00PM!
JVS is hosting an information session/Q & A about our Hospitality Training Program. The program lasts about a month and will prepare you for a career in hospitality with hands on training and connections to employers in Boston and the surrounding area. Graduates are prepared to work in customer service, housekeeping, and other positions in hotels.

From our website: Training with Homewood Suites, Courtyard Marriott, and Hostelling International
JVS partners with three hotels in the Boston area (Arlington Homewood Suites, Courtyard Marriott at Copley Square, and Downtown Hostelling International) to train participants in the hospitality industry in this intensive four-week training. Participants engage in one week of classroom instruction at JVS in hospitality and guest service skills, followed by a three-week job shadow program at one of our partner sites in the areas of housekeeping, houseperson, front desk, laundry and food service. Participants also attend JVS once a week during the job-shadowing component to work on resumes, interview skills and the job search process. Graduates of the program are prepared to begin careers in the hospitality industry and other similar work environments.

Responsibilities include: Complete designated cashier and closing reports in the computer system. Review shift logs/daily memo books and document pertinent information in logbooks. Contact appropriate individual or department (e.g., Bellperson, Housekeeping) as necessary to resolve guest call, request, or problem. Process all guest check-ins by confirming reservations in computer system, verifying guest identity, requesting form of payment, assigning room, and activating and issuing room key. Sell a room/accommodation to guests without reservations based on availability. Ensure rates match market codes and that any exceptions are documented. Ensure checks that come from outlets (e.g., Health Club, Retail Shop) are scanned and charged to room. Assist management in training, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; serve as a role model and first point of contact of the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; and complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address guests' service needs, and assist individuals with disabilities. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards; and identify, recommend, develop, and implement new ways to increase organizational efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and/or cost-savings. Speak with others using clear and professional language. Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move up and down stairs and/or service ramps. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

The date of the exam will be April 16th, 2016. This exam is not free. It will cost $200.
