Job Fair FAIL
Sorry but this was a big job fair fail. I didn't see any jobs worth my talent or time.

Job Fair
I was disappointed, as I came prepared with 30 printed resumes ready to distribute, but unlike the email I received describing how my resume “matched” several of the opportunities that were going to be present, I didn’t not give out one. It was a driver, warehouse job fair and had I known that and not been encouraged by a “matching resume” email, and spent money on printing such an amount of resumes, I wouldn’t have gotten my hopes up. Disappointed...

Another job fair?
I misssed this one will there be another one soon?

Job fair tip #4
Within 24-48 hours of the job fair, send a [follow up thank you] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/3a2695c7-ced7-5bea-af4e-8789f758e97b) to each person you met with, even if you’re not interested. Networking is important, and that person you met may help you some way in the near future. If you think the employer would better appreciate a handwritten note, send one, but also send emails to everyone as well. Avoid copying and pasting the same generic email in your thank you! Just as you would write a custom cover letter, do the same with your thank you note. Be specific to the company as possible and mention somethings you spoke about that really stood out to you and to the employer. This will personalize the thank you.

Job fair tip #3
When the conversation is wrapping up, thank the person you’re speaking with for their time and request a business card. If you have one provide it to them as well. It will be hard to remember everyone’s names at the end of the event and the card will help! Take a few seconds after you walk away and jot down some notes right on the back of the business card so you will remember more details later. Plus, with that business card you will now have that person’s contact information so you can be sure to [follow up] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/3a2695c7-ced7-5bea-af4e-8789f758e97b) the next day.

Job fair tip #2
One of the biggest mistakes job seekers make during a job fair is not giving out their resume until the end of a meeting. The employer may have gotten interrupted or moved on to someone else. Instead, as you speak about yourself, hand your resume to the employer, and point out the areas that support what you’re saying. This will draw his/her attention to your resume and make you stand out from the other faces at the table.

Job fair tip #1
As you approach each table at a job fair make sure to be friendly, confident, and prepared with something to say. Introduce yourself with a smile, great eye contact, and a brief but firm handshake. Often, the employer will take the lead at that point and ask you a few questions, but you should also have your [elevator pitch] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/b7253760-b4f7-5094-b148-b567e55aaaf4?from=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.jobcase.com%252Fgroups%252F74f34b74-2b6b-4d09-bf76-b608c2f1b28c%253Fpage%253D4) ready to go! Make sure to express why you’re interested in that particular company and how your skills or qualifications suit the position. Remember it's about why YOU are great for them, not the other way around! Be sure to speak slowly, clearly and with interest.

Get the most out of your job fair experience!
The Cincinnati Work Job Fair is going on right now until 12pm today. At this point, you may be thinking to yourself, "What can I do to get the most out of this experience?" No worries! We've got you covered.
1. Take the temperature of the room. Don't dive in right away when you enter the event. Make sure you take a moment to take a breath and look around the room. Take a look at how things are laid out and which companies are where. Make a quick plan about how you'll make your way around the room to see as many of your target companies as you can. Take a deep breath and go!
2. Work up to your target companies. When you first get into the job fair, you may feel nervous to start, which is completely normal and can even be expected. What you want to try not to do, is go straight to your top priority companies when you're not feeling completely confident. Get the jitters out by practicing your pitch on companies that aren't high priority for you. Once you feel like you're ready for the big time, switch over to those companies you're truly interested in so they can see you at the top of your game!
3. Take notes! You're likely to get a bunch of business cards today and by the end of the day it'll be hard to remember who's who. To help avoid forgetting about potentially crucial company reps, make sure to write three things about the company rep on the back of their cards while they're fresh in your mind. That way, when you follow up on them you'll be able to tailor your message to them specifically.
4. Follow-up! After the fair, make sure you follow up with every rep from a company you're interested in. Make sure you forward them a digital copy of your resume, thank them for their time, and express your excitement about potential opportunities!
