It's never too late
I friend of mine shared this awesome video the other day and I thought it would be great to pass along here. Don't ever think it's too late to get started!

My favorite motivator...
Well, for our first #motviationalmonday I have to go with the old standby... "Whether you think you can, or think you can't.... you're right!"

One step, one punch, one round at a time
So this was a rough week, rougher day. I've got a big challenge to figure out. It's complicated, messy, daunting. I kept coming back to Rocky in Creed. I like this. It's working. If you are in a big messy problem / watch Creed and think of Rockys advice - it's pretty good.

What are you a genius in?
Someone just sent me this quote by Albert Einstein. I confess to not having heard it before but I really like it. I think Antonio Brown is a genius on the gridiron but he's not likely a great computer engineer. I have great computer engineers building Jobcase for all of us, but I am pretty sure that most of them don't know what I mean by "gridiron"! Everyone has different talents. I have often found the most successful people I know are the ones that don't worry so much about what they do not do well, but rather really try to get better and better at what comes a bit more naturally.
What are you a genius in?
Me? I guess it turns out I am a genius in picking partners (or maybe just lucky). Friends, wife, business partners, Jobcase team-mates. Any success I have (on whatever metric matters) probably is attributed more to those around me than me myself. But I guess I am smart enough to know who to surround myself with.
So..... What about you? What are you a genius in? I'd love to hear some Jobcaser thoughts on this. I am pretty sure if you do a little honest introspection you can figure out how to focus in on that genius.

Hard work -not luck. Go get ''em!
When you think someone is 'lucky' because of a success or situation - chances are you are overlooking a TON of HARD WORK. I love this quote by our founding father Thomas Jefferson. The thing about it that is so great - is that it turns a dangerous thought (things just happen or don't happen and random chance - luck - is the determiner of who wins and who loses) into a VERY constructive thought (I can be master of my own destiny). I have never really found anything easy in professional life. But generally speaking if you are willing to roll up sleeves, work hard, and keep at it - then pretty soon others will be saying how "lucky" they think YOU are.. and probably overlooking all that hard work that you can inwardly smile about knowing that YOU are all the luck you needed! Go Get 'em today. Work hard .. and go make your own luck!

Make it count...
Hey there my fellow Jobcasers. This quote below is one I remember my brother saying when I was younger. There's a lot to it, really. Leave the past behind and make today count. If the past was great for you - awesome, build on it and make today count. If the past was not awesome, or worse, then let it go and and make today count. Here's the thing - YOU and really, ONLY YOU, can move yourself forward to a better place. Its always a ton of work, but it can start today. You just have to decide to start. So its a beautiful Monday. I suggest getting done 1 or 2 of the things you have been putting off. Suggest finding a way to complement 1 or 2 people during your day (a simple "thanks for doing a good job" can almost always bring a smile to anyone's face you come in contact with ). And make a conscious decision that today will be an inflection point for you. That today you move forward with a fresh outlook on whatever goals you are aspiring to, or to overcome whatever challenges you face. Simply choose to make today count! Good luck!, Fred

Do you have the Olympian mentality?
Debi Thomas has been referred to as the best African American figure skater in history. She has an amazing story and I remember rooting for her in the Olympics when she medaled. I read an article recently about her and the quote below stuck out. I think we can all challenge ourselves to strive for an "Olympian mentality". I mean, it really is a choice on how we allow ourselves to think, no? clip from article follows: ..... ...."Thomas talks a lot about what she calls the “Olympian mentality.” It’s a frame of mind among elite athletes that they can will themselves to excellence. Self-doubt and vulnerability are banished. Confidence is everything. Triumph is within reach."

A little inspiration for your Tuesday
Remember to be YOU!

Three steps for motivating yourself in your job search!
It's really tough to apply for jobs, let's be honest. I know it sometimes seems like you're shouting into the void. But the best way to apply for jobs is to apply for as many jobs as possible and follow up with them all. That's a lot of work, right? So how do you stay motivated? Here are a few steps to help you out!
BE POSITIVE You are more likely to put things off if you're in a bad mood. Research shows that being happy increases your productivity and can even help you be more successful! Optimism can be incredibly powerful. Think about how far you've come already. You're here and you're ready to change your life. Things are already looking up!
REWARD YOURSELF Getting rewards feels awesome, right? So why not reward yourself for the work you're doing? Try giving a trustworthy friend or family member $10. Tell them they can only give it back to you if you apply to 5 different jobs today. If you don't get the applications done, you're out $10! Or, if you'd prefer to not mess with money (or you don't have a nearby trustworthy friend) tell yourself that you can have dessert after dinner if you've applied to 5 jobs. Promise yourself a milkshake for doing a couple of follow-ups. A cookie for editing your resume. The possibilities are endless (and tasty)!
BE PEER PRESSURED Spend time and effort being around the kinds of people you want to be. The friends you keep can really influence your life. Research shows that people pick up a lot of habits from their friends, so who better to be friends with than serious and responsible people? Plus it never hurts with networking!
Trust me, YOU CAN DO THIS. You're already here, so you've already rocked the first step of your job search. Now head on over to https://jobcase.com/jobs/search and start applying for jobs!

Are you going to let others dictate what you can and cannot do?
Kathrine Switzer did not.
Kathrine was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon at a time when women were not allowed to run. I love this shot. Is there any question of the opposition she faced? Look how many people she battled just to get started. And she prevailed!
There are ALWAYS people, institutions, obstacles in the way of what you want to achieve. There is no sense complaining or worrying about that. The question is - do you battle through it, or succumb to it?
Katherine finished this race. Then she ran 7 more times over the next decade or so, in Boston Marathons that women were welcomed to run in - because she fought through when she was unwelcome! What are you gonna fight through? Strengthen your resolve - you can do it too!
