Are you willing to pay $.25 - $.40 more a burrito for $15/hr wages?
Because that's what is now going to happen at Chipotle restaurants as they announced today that they are going to raise their prices by 4% to cover the cost of raising their hourly wage to $15 an hour.
For a family of 4 that loves burritos their trip just got more expensive by $1 on average based on the price hikes. How do you feel about small price hikes to increase the wages of front line workers? #foodservice #jobsearch
If you have to work more than one job, in order to pay bills, put a roof over your head, and buy groceries then I absolutely support a $15hr minimum wage! We can't make a living on less than $15 hrs because of the cost of living. Why should employees struggle to survive, while greedy companies pay their CEOs a huge wage AND make profits when they can care less about their employees. You want employees to be loyal, show up and work at your company? Then offer a decent wage. Everything else keeps going up, except minimum wage. Minimum wage hasn't gone up for YEARS, yet companies still raise their rates yearly!!!
Yes - I would absolutely pay a few extra cents if it meant that workers were getting paid a fair and competitive wage!
God forbid a corporation use a small percentage of their HUGE profit margins to pay for the very people enriching them.
I’d rather pay more for my food and know that the person serving it to me is earning a living wage.

Really....I cant believe this is a question. Ofcourse less profit is how a wage hike should be financed. But, capitalism and greed are partners. Fyi, a real authentic burrito costs less to make at home and it is better.PEACE

We stuck with Chipotle when they couldn’t get ahold of the bacteria that was plaguing their restaurant, if the raise the price I’m done! Pay people take less profits as a form of thanking the public who stuck with them. The people are worth it, their cleaning now.
Is 4% the difference between what workers are now being paid, and the new 15.00 hourly? Keep in mind restaurants have to pay workmans comp. Which is in many case a percentage of gross wage, so that goes up as well, plus a current worker who is getting 15.00 an hour will expect an increase in their salary. This is more than just a raise for one group of employees
I'll go first and answer my own question :) i completely support these small price hikes to support raising these workers' wages to $15 an hour. I think that having fairer wages in the long run will balance out the price hikes as more and more individuals will come out of poverty with these wages. Also, these were the jobs that we as a society deemed essential. If they're deemed essential shouldn't they be able to get a living wage.
