Do Not Rehire Policies
I was employed by a prestigious medical facility located in Rochester, Minnesota for two years, unfortunately my mother became fatally ill. Because she lived out of state, I requested FMLA and was denied. I gave two week notice and relocated. This happened in 2001, upon returning to Rochester I applied to the facility several times but never made it pass the interviews. I thought it was something I was doing wrong, only to discover that I was on a Do Not Rehire list.
My question is, how long can a company keep a ex employee on this list and is it necessary to have show cause? I was informed that my supervisor, who has since retired requested the do not rehire. There is no cause for the blacklisting in my record, and states that my work performance was excellent.

Thank all of you for the heartfelt concern and advice. I have continued my search for employment and by the grace of God been hired by the county as an IT Support Specialist.
If you are good worker; I think they should hire you back. That's wrong not to rehire you. Maybe God got something better and greater. Remember you are valuable. Leave them in God's hand. Just trust God.
