Tips on building rapport with your interviewer

Here's a good article on connecting with your interviewer. http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/outside-voices-careers/2015/02/26/5-ways-to-build-rapport-with-your-interviewer?int=b67f0a&int=b8e90a

"You usually get invited for an interview if you fit some or all the job requirements. The interviewer already knows you can probably do the job. The question she's asking herself during the interview is, “do I want this person on our team?” " #careers #interview

When being scheduled for an interview (by the recruiter or hr person), I always ask for the name and title of whomever I will be interviewed by. Then I Google that person. Typically, I find them on Linkedin or FB. I definitely won't mention anything I see or learn on FB. I just use it to roughly gauge what the person may be like or some interests of theirs. I may (or may not) mention something I found on Linkedin. In some situations it is appropriate to illustrate the amount of research you've done. Othertimes, you may just look like a stalker. SO use this tip with care.

Some great advice. It really is important to build a rapport with interviewers. I'm pretty sure I got one of my jobs because of the elevator small talk.
