Hi, has anyone ever tried a temp agency? Any thoughts or advice?

Its a good idea ONLY if the assignment has the opportunity to hire you once your assignment ends. If the assignment does not indicate this, then you will be right back where you were prior to accepting the assignment. Many companies out there like to hire temporary workers, accomplish their goal, then send the Temps off with no offer to hire. Just be CLEAR on what the assignment is, and what the companies intentions are. This way once an assignment is over, no one ends up surprised or disappointed. I have had both good and bad experiences with temporary work. And just so you are aware, the status of "contractor" is the same as "temp".

Great question @Bob Dylan ! Interest in temp agency work assignments are on the rise among job seekers looking for immediate employment options. I'm in total agreement with @Kai Dickerson and @Lucas Hunter responses above. Every agency offers a different experience. My best experiences with temp agencies in the past has been with those who offer full intake experiences.
Full intake experiences involve an interview, resume evaluation, and skills assessment. These agency evaluations are designed to measure your key skills and strengths so they can match you with compatible work assignments. National agencies like adecco and kellystaffing are examples of agencies that follow this type of new hire intake/orientation process.
Have you been out on any interviews or work assignment with temp agencies recently? What's been your experience so far?

Yes, I worked for 1 for 10 years. Raises did not come easy and still did not have a hired secure job. When work got slow, I was the 2st to be told that had to be furloughed. Just my experience!

Using several temp agencies is a great way to get experience, work short or long term contracts. You build skills and network relationships. Some agencies offer testing and training to sharpen your skills on your career search.

Rough jobs.

Good advice @Lucas Hunter! @Bob Dylan, a temp agency can help you get your foot in the door with an employer. Even if the job itself is temporary, the relationships you build can help you with a more permanent role later on. Good luck and let us know what you decide!

I did, a long time ago, and landed a great job.

Looing for something part time and able to do my job .

Absolutely. I have used temp agencies since 1979. They are a good way to get into companies quickly. The only thing that has changed over the years is that years ago, the agency would call you about an assignment, if it appealed to you, the agency would just give you the location, name off person you would be reporting to when you first get there, and that would be it. Usually no interview. Nowadays, however, there always seems to be an interview before the company agrees to take you, even for a temp assignment. I find that really annoying. I have a feeling it is because agencies don't do a real good job of screening qualified people. A warning: Do not pay any agency, the company is supposed to pay them not you.
Depending upon which one and locations you're looking to work within. I work for Kelly Services as of last week. It pays... Eh, but it's easy and the staff are professional. It's worth it, if you're willing to take less for guaranteed security in the future. If you're in need... Go for it.
