Updating your skills

The advice to update your skills is often given to job seekers on the site, especially if your are an older workers seeking a job or if you have worked at one company for many years and have been let go. Many of us need an inexpensive way to do this. If you have no job you have no money. Many of the free computer classes no longer exist and local community colleges want &500.00 per class. Have checked with many local resources but they only offer very basic limited help. Any suggestions to us jobseekers needing to update skills but at an affordable option.

Excellent question Pam Robinson ! The US Department of Labor collaborates with local career resource centers on a yearly basis to offer skills training, job readiness, and apprenticeship career development opportunities.

You can find free and/or affordable local training opportunities at https://www.careeronestop.org/. Programs vary throughout the year and according to state, city, and/or local hiring needs but there's always a program available. Use the link posted above to find a center near you then call and book a one on one Career Consultation with a professional Career Advisor to register and get informed on training programs available in your area. The consultation appointment if FREE of charge by the way! :-)

For free and affordable technical training visit https://www.edx.org/ and https://www.udemy.com/. These websites offer excellent technical training workshops and online training coursework.

Contact me if you have any questions Pam Robinson . Your Jobcase profile looks Fantastic by the way. Your traits really stand out! You should also include Pro-Active and Self-Starter to your traits. it's obvious you're an ambitious work ethic. Nice Job!
