How will working a Cashier job help me grow a career?

Working as a cashier really DOES have it’s benefits. Not only the computerised point of sale and related tasks designated by your company but the face to face with customers. Absolutely every customer is unique, some even rude, difficult, and verbally abusive. Learning how to deescalate an unsatisfied customer is a very satisfying and positively rejuvenating experience. This kind of experience can be utilised through out your business career. Good luck to your future abilities!!!!

It also helps you learn patience and how to handle stress. Patience on cranky or down right obnoxious customers.

Possibly move to another department and become a department head.

As a cashier, you’ll be talking to a lot of people while standing in a single spot almost the entire time. You’ll learn to have patience with all types of situations and personalities, from aggressive to happy. And you’ll slowly gain in social skills such as small talk, which will help for jobs like a retailer. Or a job that requires a lot of social activity, and patience.

It will help with customer interaction, money management and interacting with coworkers.

I believe it will help with money management and pricing merchandise and even if you want to pursue a career in accounting

It will help you communicate better with the public. Your math skills are sure to be better. Keep a positive attitude at all times.Always say thank you to the customer & smile.

It will help you learn and experience money management and get to learn how customer service works and learn how to count the draws and how to have patience on your customers.

It will help you learn how to count drawer's (currency) after every shift , it will also help you with your experience even if you were promoted to a manager position you will know how to count safes , registers ETC.
It would allow you to get the necessary experience in; money management, basic register knowledge/skills, time management and of course customer service to be able to advance your career opportunities elsewhere.
