Not sure what to do
I have been unemployed for 15 weeks from a job that I absolutely loved and I never thought I would have been in this situation. I truly believe that if I had taken care of my health and had a much needed neck surgery I would still have my job. They let me go after I returned to work for 5 days after my recovery...they asked if I was still on pain meds. I answered not knowing I was going to be let go because of it...I was prescribed them by my doctor and taking them according to the script and really I wasn't even taking them hike I was at work. Anyway I just got a letter from the Ga Department of Labor saying my unemployment benefits have been depleted. I don't have a job yet and I have sent out I don't know over 100s of resumes and I've only gotten 2 interviews. I can't live without money. My daughter is trying to help but she is a single mom. Am I able to reapply for an extension of benefits? Does anyone know? Or do I need to go get a retail job for way less than I was making before? (I know something is better than nothing) I am so depressed and almost paralized with depression and fear I just need some other opinions. There are some days its all I can motivate myself to do is let the fur babies out. I haven't had to go through this much stress in a long time. I tell you the stress I thought I had while I was working was nothing compared to this...
Hi Carole Sweeley - I am sorry to hear about that. I can't believe they let you go even though you had a doctor's prescription for it.
I am pretty sure you can submit an appeal for an extension of benefits.. I believe you'll have to submit more information, but given your situation I am sure they will do the right thing.
In the meantime, I think it's important to try to get back into the workforce. It's clear that you take a lot of your self worth on your job, as many others do. I know that it can be hard, but getting back into the swing of things will massively help your depression and will help your motivation to do things.
Check out this conversation. It has all the information you need to get back into the job hunt. It's going to be a long read, but it will be worth it.
I hope this helps, Carole. We are here for you. Please let the Jobcase community know if anything changes!
