Unemployed

Hi all... I’m new to the group but thought to share my sentiments. I moved back home (CT) from being away living in MD for 12 years due to my dad. I received my MS in 2006 and moved to MD. I worked all my life since the age of 13. In MD I became a COO for a non profit youth program, worked in DC Gov and ended last year as a DOO for a program working closely with the county executive. To date, moving back to CT I’ve been told I’m over qualified for most positions I’m applying for. I interviewed for a President/CEO position and became one of the top 3 candidates to have been told someone with more experience than I got the job. I was bummed. I’m trying not to give up as I am a recent divorcee with twin daughters age 6. I’ve applied to countless jobs and yet nothing. Asking for prayers.

Respectfully, Mom of Twins- my life!

Hi Latonia Tabb - Welcome to Jobcase! I understand how getting turned down for a job offer during the late rounds of the interview process can be disheartening please keep in mind that you were considered on of the top 3 candidates from I'm sure was a populated and very competitive hiring pool. Within the job level you're searching in that's quite an accomplishment!

You've been in C-Level jobs for over ten years and landing those jobs is competitive but you sure do look like you got the good to make it happen. Stay encouraged and keep networking, pursuing, and praying for the right career opportunity.

I'm going to include members edith gore and A Smith who live around your area on this message incase they have any leads or job search support they can offer you. Also, the Goodwill of Western and Northern Connecticut centers are hosting a job fair in Hartford this month. Please refer to the link below for more event and registration information.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Take good care!

Hi Latonia Tabb you are doing great! If someone tells you that you are overqualified [here] (https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/e3e6405c-27b2-5fb0-84e6-fb7fefd23fb4) is how to handle it! Just keep applying and the fact that you landed that interview speaks volumes about yourself and your resume. I know it's hard to make it to the final stretch and then be told no, but that just means that isn't the company for you. Keep going and keep applying, you can do this!!
