Have some knowledge to the company or office that you are going to apply for. If it’s a new industry Make sure it’s something that you like and interest in. Be open minded and be eager to learn not only the position you are applying for the other positions that you may want to go for in the future, take notes and do your training. Be helpful, and be aware of what task that need to be done or if any one else needs help with if your done with your current responsibilities. Know that your the first point of contact with incoming calls or emails, keep all files if there are any neat and in order, get acclimated with the equipment(computer, printer, copier, fax ect… 😊 be respectful, polite and know how to handle unexpected situations these are just some of the things I would advise for any receptionist. And sorry if I gave more then what you asked lol or if you have any other questions don’t be afraid to ask hope I was helpful if anything else. And hope you are blessed where ever you may end up applying. And p.s always remember you might be walking into a mess that has to be cleaned up

Know what your job responsibilities would be, so you could apply knowing you would be a good fit for the employer.

@Janet Upshaw A good receptionist is detail-oriented, comfortable with juggling multiple projects simultaneously, organized, and an excellent communicator. Since receptionists need to be familiar with telephone systems, having that experience and a pleasant telephone voice is critical.
