You are a US government employee with great benefits and a stable job and unless you mess it up, I’m sure you have a lifetime job as long as you want it. Who wouldn’t want a stable future like that? I would if they would hire me full time at age 61. It’s harder and harder for divorced older moms with a 21 and 18 year old sons to keep trying to find meaningful work. I spent most of my recent past work career in the Energy Industry, but also have 10 years in Legal and 5 years in Commercial Real Estate working for giants in each industry but now post-Covid, I’m lucky to find anything much more than a few hours weekly part-time in a small rural community 90 miles north east of Houston so maybe it’s where I purchased my home here - I don’t know. Jobs are probably certainly more plentiful in Houston where I gave birth and educated and my sons grew up with me the past 35 years. Maybe it’s time to relocate back to the suburbs. I just can’t seem to find everything I need anymore but I still gotta stay in the workforce another 6 more years at least to age 67. In today’s world, that’s not as easy as it sounds for Baby Boomers even with a UT-Austin Business degree but I am trying to stay positive!

Rural Carrier at United States Postal Service

I retired last year with 37yrs service. Why stay??? You get a fantastic retirement...even though if you're young you may not be thinking of that yet. You get a PENSION, SOCIAL SECURITY and a 401K plan called TSP. They match a portion of your contributions. And...you can fully retire at 56, if you work there for a period of time. Very hard job, I carried mail. They are extremely demanding, but was worth it in the end!

Mail Carrier at Us Post Office

There is no reason to stay , if someone finds a better job . unless someone really likes the job and is happy with the pay and benefits . remember it is a hard job and to stay for long years is a challenge.

Why would you take away a job for someone else by taking a job that you're not planning to stay on at?
