As of late , my latest experiences have led me to the conclusion that the two weeks notice does not do anything beneficial for you , only your soon to be ex employer! If you think about it they will not give you two weeks when they fire you !

Hence being true when getting fired employers don't give 2 weeks notice. HOWEVER , I believe no matter what occupation when quitting give 2 weeks notice.Potential future employers want to know if you are reliable or want to know if its something you have tendency do on just quitting with no notice.

Yes, it gives employer time to get another employee. Going in, they gave me a job, and I would show respect for them, and myself, doing the right thing, regardless!

I believe giving two weeks notice is more due not burning any bridges. You never know when you may need them again. Leaving on a good note is better. Maybe I am old school, but I had a great experience be kinder then just up and leaving without two weeks notice. Just my thought.

@Bill Branstetter No it’s not important because California is an At-Will termination state. I actually just resigned from a job giving one day notice. I sent an email day of saying I’m resigning. Employees are disposable to companies and will replace you in a heartbeat. So that’s why I feel it’s not important.

It’s probably the best decision to give notice. Don’t burn bridges.
