I personally would rather have a set schedule with around 40 hours per week. At Homedepot you are not guaranteed a set schedule or a set number of hours when you first start. I went in during the summer and was given 8 hours one week and 15 hours the next week. I never received the schedule I said I was available for because they gave it to someone who was already working there for a longer period of time even though that person would call in frequently. So yes I would rather work more hours but only if my schedule was fixed. Because otherwise you will find yourself closing one night till 10/11pm and coming back the next day at 9am.
