Certifications?
What are the certifications or licenses that are typically required in this industry? Would OSHA 40 Hr Hazwoper and 1 Hr Forklift training suffice? Or do I need more training and certification? What I do know, is that to be an operations manager, foreperson or supervisor in whatever field, you must be certified and/or receive a permit in one way or the other. This isn't something an average teenager with a driver's license can do so easily. The very last thing I want to hear from someone my age from a recruiting assistant is that if I can drive or have a driver's license. I'm certified by the labor department for crying out loud!

CDL are a must for standard semi operation. Any additional certifications may be required due to your cargo. For instance, transporting anything flammable requires additional certification. Regarding forklift operation, there is no 1 universal certification. A new certification must be obtained with each new employer. Also, if the forklift is a stand-up vs. a sit-down, that’s a different certification. Same goes for gas powered vs. electric.

Hi Daniel: You would need to have a CDL license if you would like to become a truck driver. If you don't mind me asking, how old are you and what state are you from?

Daniel, Like all the other have stated, the DEPT OF LABOR, CANNOT ASSIST YOU. My friend is in construction. My brother, who did 7 years, prior, got his licence. You have to do, your HOME WORK.!!!!! 1st-CDL,2-LICENSE-INSURANCE-EITHER LOCAL-OR LONG DISTANCE-SIMPLE-DAN-DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Here in NYC, I see 18 wheelers all the time. Everyone does. I know, you command good wages, and I also know, you are one the interstate all the time, the problem is the {WIFE},leads to DIVORCE, I see it all the time.

Hi Daniel Hsu ! To drive a commercial truck, you will need a CDL, or Commercial Driver's License. Click here to learn more about the CDL and why it's important to have if you want to start a career in trucking.

This guy was a manager, there is no requirement by law for those positions. Take a class here and there and apply for an upgrade later.
