Hey Everyone, I Have a Question About Adecco Staffing

I’ve never applied for jobs through a staffing agency before. What should I expect from the process? How soon will I hear back from employers? #curious

I started applying for jobs through Adecco approximately 2 weeks ago. Not just for a job, but a work from home position. Jobs in the remote realm have been a little tough to land for the past 3 months or so... I initially applied for a work at home customer service rep position for Ralph Lauren starting $16/hr first shift, or $17/hr second shift. Temp to hire position with 3 month initial contract. They reached out by phone for a chat the next day. Kept me in the loop. Now I'm set up with assessments, onboarding, and a time slot to interview with Ralph Lauren virtually through the local Adecco branch! I only assume from what I've read that they can even offer you with equipment setup to use in your home for remote role... Also from what I understand is that when accepted into their applicant pool, if my interview for RL goes awry, they will help me get placed to interview with another company fitting my job search criteria. Definitely not like most staying agencies where it's a "factory or bust" situation. Excited to start my remote work journey! Fingers crossed.

If possible apply directly to the posting companies website. 4 to 6 weeks is the average time it takes to hear back from anyone. The resumes are done on computer and sent thru a "keyword" matching process. I would encourage you to speak to someone at your workforce commission office to help you customize your resume. It's a new age and meeting someone, shaking their hand, and looking them in the eye is over. It's all algorithms. I have not written a resume in 22 years and this is a new word to me. But I've been blessed to work with some great HR personal to help guide me, and now I have 6 interviews this week just from understanding what the computers look for.

My experience has been mostly positive - I think it depends on your field and qualifications.

The process that I've been involved with is usually you have a conversation in person or via phone to review your resume and your potential fits in certain companies. They submit your information to the hiring company and from there the recruiter reaches out to you and sets up all and any appointments and contacts. Good recruiters will describe the type of company, and if they have had a working relationship with that specific company they may "prep" you on what to expect from the person or people you will be speaking with. Once the interview is complete, any additional follow ups will typically be done through the recruiters, not you. That includes any offers, or follow up appointments, etc.

Things you NEED to know that I didn't but learned through the process:

Recruiters work for the company NOT you! They will be amiable to try to match you both, but at the end of the day, they are their client, not you. Because of this, how you carry yourself in an interview/conversation with the recruiter is important because you are a reflection on THEM and their agency. If you're flat-out bad at what you do, or can't have a conversation, there is NO WAY they will push you over to the company because your lack of skills is a reflection on them as a service in evaluating candidates.

Recruiters ask for what you currently earn and it's their responsibility to tell the their client. I always try to be honest, but this can hurt you since companies WILL NOT PAY YOU what you are worth, they will base your salary offers on what you CURRENTLY earn. You can be AWESOME and totally 100% qualified at what you do, and the average salary for what you do can be 100k, but if you currently earn 40k, the company will NOT give you 100k, they will offer 50k or MAX 60k.

I have worked for placement agencies and each one is different and each one has different contracts with different companies for use of Temp or Temp to hire staffing. A great deal depends on your skill set and if that skill matches the positions they need to fill. The more management experience you have the more difficult it is for them to place you in temp. positions but not impossible. Be flexible, cordial and report you availability as they have requested.

Adecco is one of the better national temp agencies. I was contacted directly from the office for my first assignment that eventually became a permanent job after 6 months. Call the office to make an appointment for and interview and assessment. They'll get you working fast!

Hi, I've worked for 3 agencies so far. 1-2 years is the average time even though I had excellent reviews. They bring you in to fill gaps then when there is a decrease in work load they discard you. Use them to get yourself back on track then look for a direct hire asap. Good luck to you!

I'm not sure about everyone else but I'be been working for temp. Company's for 2 yrs now and the longest job worked is 5-6 months. They can fire you for any reason at any time and make your work ethic look terrible for other jobs.. Hope this helps!

My personal experiences they collect resumes you don't ever hear back from them unless you're willing to work in a factory but if you have any higher qualifications than that you're not going to hear back from him it's been pretty disappointing

My personal experience with staffing agencies is not a positive one. I think they just collect resumes. I have never gotten a job through an agency.

I have worked several positions through a staffing agency. Usually once they send you to the employers interview you hear back pretty quickly.. Remember you have already been screened by the agency and they already know you are qualified and meeting their requirements. Hope that helped.
